A VIEW FROM THE DARK SIDE !!!!
Training for Teaching staff and professionals
Hi, please let me introduce myself.
My name is Heidi Bedwell and I am an adult with
diagnoses of Asperger syndrome, ADHD and Tourettes
syndrome.
I was born in 1976 and raised in the South of England and
attended mainstream schools, leaving at age 16 with 9
gcses graded C or higher. I am a mother of four and one
of my children has autism and another has Aspergers,
ADHD, Tourettes, sleep-disorder and anxiety. Another of
my children suffers from depression and my birth family
has an extensive history of mental health (including
psychosis) and A.S.D. or related conditions. I have three
siblings and each of them has a child or children on the
autistic spectrum and at least one of my siblings also fits
the diagnostic criteria for A.S.D.
I have 3 years of degree level psychological studies and
40 years of experience of autism and mental health
issues from both a personal and carers veiwpoint. I have
also worked with adults with learning disabilities. I
received my diagnoses as an adult, after spending many
years wondering why I struggled to 'fit in' with my peers.
I am offering training and information sessions to those
who work with both children and adults on the autistic
spectrum and/or with related conditions. My aim is to
help carers/teaching staff, understand the condition and
some of it's co-morbidities from the point of veiw of
someone who lives with
autism/aspergers/ADHD/Tourettes/mental health
difficulties every day. I am hoping this will help
carers/teaching staff and service users/students get the
most they can from working with each other.
The sessions are very informal and a lot of it is based on a
question and answer process depending what
staff/carers would like to learn and there is always an
emphasis on individual differences.
If you would like to book a session, please contct me via
email : glider13@sky.com
I would put a phone number but due to difficulties with
processing speed and anxiety, I find telephone
conversations difficult to follow!
Thank you for reading,
Heidi Bedwell.
(Sessions are being offered for free for a limited time
only)
