Susan had a crush on her friend Diego and wanted to give him a Valentine's gift, but was nervous about how he would react. Her mother advised her to follow her heart. On Valentine's Day, Susan received many gifts from friends but was still waiting for Diego's. When she gave him her gift, Diego revealed that he had been looking for her to give her a gift as well, showing that he returned Susan's feelings. Susan was thrilled and learned that being brave can lead to wonderful surprises.

1. THE UNEXPECTED GIFT

2. There’s a girl named Susan, who is twelve years
old, lives in a beautiful house and has a wonderful
family that really loves her.
She is very popular at school, and she is very kind
to every person she meets, that’s the reason why
she has a lot of friends.

3. Valentina is Susan’s bestfriend,
she has known Susan since they
were six years old. Both of the
girls are very excited because
Valentine’s Day is coming, and
they have made lots of plans.
They want to give gifts to each
other, because their friendship
means a lot to them. They are
very important to each other.

4. But Susan wasn’t thinking just about her best
friend, she also was thinking about a boy named
Diego. He also was her friend, but she had a crush
on him, and she wanted to give him a present too,
but she was scared about what he might think
about it.

5. After school she talked to
her mom about what was
on her mind during the day,
and her mom gave her the
greatest advice ever. She
told her “Susan you need to
follow your heart, and if he
is a smart boy he will
appreciate the present and
you, otherwise he doesn’t
deserve your friendship”.

6. Next day at school, Susan was
very nervous because it was
Valentine’s Day, and she had a
present for Diego. But she didn’t
know if he would like it.
The first person Susan saw in
the class was Valentina, who
was extremly excited because of
the holiday. When she saw
Susan coming into the classroom
she took the present and before
she could say hello she gave it to
her friend with the biggest smile.

7. Susan received a lot of
presents of all her friends, but
none of the person she was
expecting the most. So she
decided to follow her mother’s
advice, and be brave. In the
recess she was going straight to
Diego, when she was face to
face with him he said “hey
Susan! I was looking for you”,
and took out a present just for
her. She couldn’t believe it, she
was very happy.

8. Then she gave him a present
too, and he hugged her and
gave her a kiss.
Valentina was very happy for
Susan when she notice that
Diego had a crush on Susan
too.
With this experience, Susan
learned that when you are
brave you get amazing and
unexpecting results.
