Tribal Wave is Building
Momentum is beginning to build as the Community Consultants continue
to promote and build awareness in the communities about Tribal Wave
Assemblies unique Framework.
The Community Consultants are working across the Tribal Wave footprint which extends
across Local Government Areas From Coffs Harbour to Karauh.
Fiona Hyland is working across the northern end of the footprint from Corindi Beach,
Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbur, Urunga ,Bellingen Nambucca, Macksville, Bowraville and
Kempsey.
Terminya Fernando-Smith is working across the southern end of the footprint from Kempsey,
South West Rocks, Cresent Head Port Macquarie ,Wauchope, Taree, Foster, Glouster &
Karuah.

Our Tribal Wave Working Party has secured
from expressions of interest new champions
who are meeting and championing the Tribal
Wave Framework as the model for the local
and regional decision making model for the
Mid North Coast

A reminder to all communities that this interim working party are in place to champion the
Tribal Wave framework until assemblies are held and regional leaders are elected. through
the Assembly process.
2. Tribal Wave LOCAL ASSEMBLY is a gathering
of Tribal Wave Community Groups that are
held two times a year in each local area to
select priorities, develop Resolution Plans
and obtain updates on the Tribal Wave
Accord. ( Our Accord has not been negotiated
but its Tribal Wave Assemblies aim to be
completed by June 2018 based on sound
evidence ).
Our first local Assembly this year will be held
in Coffs Harbour themed around Economic
Development on the 29th of March.

the assembly will be
themed around Youth
Development.
We hope to have
youth leaders emerge
from this Forum
Mid Coast
(Taree or
Karuah)
May is set for Mid
Coast Assembly and
the assembly will
be focussed around
the Employment
theme.
Port Macquarie
June is set for Port
Macquaries first Local
Assembly and the
theme of Wellbeing is
its focus.
All Local Assembly
dates will start to be
secured in local areas
after the Easter break.

Community Grant - Apply in
April 2018
NIB foundation's Community
Grant program supports
community initiatives which
will make a positive difference
to the health and wellbeing of
Australian communities, with
a focus on the health of
young people, and carers.
A Community Grant round is
held each year and
applications are invited from
eligible organisations across
Australia.
Funding of $5,000 to $50,000
will be provided to 10-15
organisations each year to
undertake projects that run
for approximately 12 months.

This year as part of Youth
Week, ACYP has launched
the NSW Youth Week 2018
T-shirt Design Competition.
We ask that you
encourage young people in
your networks to engage
their creative side and draw,
paint, or digitally create a
design, to put on a t-shirt,
inspired by the 2018 NSW
Youth Week theme – Unity
Through Diversity.
All young people, aged
12-24 years living in NSW
are encouraged to enter
before the competition
closes on 28 March. The
winner will be invited to
attend a presentation at the
Youth Week Forum in NSW
Parliament House on
Thursday 12 April, where
they will receive their
personalised 2018 NSW
Youth Week t-shirt along
with a GoPro.
This year's theme was set by
young people who said that
diversity is an important
theme for them and their
peers across NSW.

Are you interested in being funded while gaining work
experience in the Indigenous sector?
The Aurora Internship Program continues to support
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and
graduates via scholarship funded internships as
pathways to jobs in Indigenous organisations and other
organisations working in the Indigenous sector, in the
areas of advocacy, community development,
environmental policy, justice, native title and land
rights amongst others.
The internships run for 4 to 6 weeks, offering
scholarships in the amount of $750 per week + travel/
accommodation if placed away from home.
Applications for the winter 2018 round of internships
open from Monday 5 March through Friday 30 March
2018.

Tribal Wave Community Groups are existing or new networks that
have gathered together to solve a problem or an issue in the
community. It is a group of five (5) people or more that are
connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected
to an idea.They undertake a fact finding mission to understand
the reasons for the problem and consider ways to overcome
barriers for Aboriginal people. Completion of the Tribal Wave
Assembly registration process enables the release of government
service delivery information to assist to resolve problems and
concerns in the community.
