The Disciple's Prayer, often mistaken as Our Lord's Prayer, provides a motivation as well as a model for prayer. If a Christian is only as strong as their prayer life, then how strong are you? Do you need some encouragement and instruction in praying?

What is a kingdom? What characterizes God's kingdom? How is it different from the kingdoms of this world? In what way is the kingdom of God "within you"? How did you become a part of God's kingdom? When will God's kingdom be fully realized on earth? How do earthly powers, or authority, differ from God's? How is God's power evidenced in your life? How would you describe glory? How was God's glory manifested in the Old Testament? Was His glory revealed differently in the New Testament? How is His glory manifested today? Spirit of hope | A Sermon on The RevelationSteve Thomason
Why is there so much violence done in Jesus' name? Much of it comes from a misunderstanding of the metaphors found in the biblical book called the Revelation. This sermon revisits Revelation and demonstrates how the first and second coming of Jesus don't contradict each other. Jesus' victory is through truth and love, not violence.
Who was Enoch? And, why did he warn of apostasy? What was his prophecy? How is his prophecy relevant to today's Church? What are 2 reasons Christ will judge? What does "ungodly" mean? Why does repeat the word "ungodly" so many times?

Jesus has been called the "Great Physician." We think of His miracles of healing. But those miracles of healing our physical bodies point to a far greater miracle--the healing of our heart and soul. He doesn't just mean physical life and death. He points to something greater--spiritual life and death, both in this world and the next.

We can spend a lifetime looking for that which will fill our souls. We can look far and wide, with people, with events, with experiences, with acquisitions, and with just about anything else you of which comes to mind. But we will never touch the deepest parts of our soul until we find what Jesus called "living water." We will experience more of that living water as we become dispensers of living water, just like the woman we'll study this week!

In John 3, Jesus teaches Nicodemus, a committed leader of Judaism, about the necessity of being born again. John 3 also lays out God's rescue mission of men and women who are lost, guilty, and without hope, in need of rescue! But most folks aren't interested, not believing they need rescuing, and certainly not interested in the remedy for sin.

We so often hear the story of Mary this time of year, but it’s just as easy to gloss over the extreme cost it would have been to a young girl, to find herself graced with this ‘favor’ from God. What did it cost her in terms of her life’s plans? What did it cost her socially, with her family, with friends and neighbors? What does radical obedience cost us?

It is likely during this time of COVID, that you have experienced a heightened sense of despondency. You've also likely experienced a heightened sense of loneliness, isolation, and being disconnected. Jesus experienced all of this as well. That He has experienced these things is meant to comfort you, lift you, and carry you along in during times like these. It's the HUMANITY of Jesus that surprises us with rest for our souls.

The Christmas message clearly spells out the deity of Christ, but this is not just a theological issue with which to ponder. It is meant to jolt us out of our spiritual stupor (sleepiness) to obeying "Jesus Christ our LORD." If obedience in our daily lives is replaced by right theology, then the boat has sailed without us.

Beneath people's veneer are hidden questions. "Do I matter? Do I matter to anyone? Does someone really care about me?" People hunger and thirst for real "life," that sense of satisfaction that comes from being deeply connected with God and others. That is what Christ offers us, and He offers this real "life" through us to others! What we all want to know, is how does this happen?
This week we are looking at understanding and interpreting the Bible. The Bible is composed of 66 Books in multiple genres written over thousands of years. It can be daunting, and sometimes hard to understand. This week we are taking a few steps to try and make it a little easier to understand.
Jeremiah was known as "the weeping prophet." In spite of his faithful and bold preaching, he watched helplessly as his beloved nation continued to slide toward destruction. Jeremiah paid a terrible price for his message. He faced ridicule, scorn, torture and suffering. What was most heart-breaking was watching the Babylonians break through the city walls of Jerusalem, burn the city to the ground, turn stone buildings into rubble, and drive 90% of the people into exile. IT DIDN’T HAVE TO END THIS WAY.

Work is work, and work takes work. Work is another introduction into the realities of life. But work is not just about work. There is the interplay of economics and government. It is important to have what the bible calls "understanding," not just about work, economics and government to have "understanding" about how these three entities should work together.
Gender our biblical worldview part 7 seth g october 18 2020Pacific Church
In our day there is growing confusion about gender. There is a secular movement of thinking that seeks to minimize or obliterate any differences between genders. In this secular way of thinking, gender is something that one feels or identifies as. This is like leaving a great sailing ship on the high seas without sails and a rudder. It will be carried along wherever the current wishes, adrift on the open seas. The unintended consequences of this thinking is to create greater confusion for young people who already struggle with their gender and confusing feelings of their identity, but there is a wondrous design to complementary gender that seeks to build intimacy in a marriage, deeper relationships with people, and reflects the wonder of our Trinitarian God.

What does the bible say about marriage? Up until 15-20 years ago this was not a "controversial" topic. Everyone knew the answer. Our secular culture continues to send its tsunami waves at our Judeo-Christian heritage, causing great confusion. How are we to think about same-sex marriage? What does the bible say? Before we address those questions we will spend time reviewing what makes a marriage a biblical marriage.
As we continue our conversation on a Christian worldview, specifically as it deals with thinking through this upcoming election we are diving deeper and deeper into different issues. This week we are looking at the sanctity of life. What it means to be made in the image of God, to have value, and to be worthy of life, no matter what stage of life you are in.

Our task is to always learn God's eternal truths and apply them to our lives. This includes how God views government. What does the bible say about government?
How do the bible's stories illustrate the truth or foolishness of how government is done? How do we apply the biblical truths in our country? This requires wisdom, discernment, humility and what the Bible calls "good sense."

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

2. God's upper story. God
wants to be with us, and
will pay any price to
make it so.
3. Isaiah 46:10 "I made known the end from the beginning
…. My purpose will stand."
4. Revelation 1:9 "I, John, your brother and companion in
the suffering and the kingdom and patient endurance
that are ours in Jesus …"
5. See things from heaven's point of view! The Lion of Judah reigns!
Revelation 1:12 I turned around to see the voice that
was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven
golden lampstands,
6. See things from heaven's point of view! The Lion of Judah reigns!
13 and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of
man," dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and
with a golden sash around his chest. 14 His head and hair
were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were
like blazing fire.
7. See things from heaven's point of view! The Lion of Judah reigns!
15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his
voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his
right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth
came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the
sun shining in all its brilliance.
8. See things from heaven's point of view! The Lion of Judah reigns!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.
Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not
be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living
One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and
ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
9. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
Revelation 5:6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had
been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled
by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven
horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God
sent out into all the earth.
10. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
9 And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take
the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased men for God from
every tribe and language and people and nation.
11. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to
serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."
12. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
Revelation 6:1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first
of the seven seals.
13. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the
generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and
every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of
the mountains.
14. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on
us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the
throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the
great day of their wrath has come, and who can
stand?"
15. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
Revelation 8:6 Then the seven angels who had the
seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
16. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
Revelation 11:15 The seventh angel sounded his
trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which
said: "The kingdom of the world has become the
kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will
reign for ever and ever."
17. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
17… saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God
Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you
have taken your great power and have begun to reign.
18. No matter how bad evil gets, it is not winning.
18 The nations were angry; and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead, and for
rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints
and those who reverence your name, both small and
great - and for destroying those who destroy the
earth."
19. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
20. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice

21. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
If you want your own way, God will let you have it.

Dorothy Sayers
22. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
Either you will say to God, 'Your will be done,' or God
will say to you, 'Your will be done.
23. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
Revelation 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and
him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his
presence, and there was no place for them.
24. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before
the throne, and books were opened. Another book was
opened, which is the book of life. The dead were
judged according to what they had done as recorded
in the books.
25. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death
and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and
each person was judged according to what he had
done.
26. Final judgment is the final intersection of God's love and justice
14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of
fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 If anyone's
name was not found written in the book of life, he was
thrown into the lake of fire.
27. God's triumph of heaven
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new
earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had
passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
28. God's triumph of heaven
2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming
down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride
beautifully dressed for her husband.
29. God's triumph of heaven
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying,
"Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live
with them. They will be his people, and God himself
will be with them and be their God.
30. God's triumph of heaven
4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be
no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the
old order of things has passed away." 5 He who was
seated on the throne said, "I am making everything
new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words
are trustworthy and true."
31. God's triumph of heaven
6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the
Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is
thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring
of the water of life.
32. God's triumph of heaven
7 He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be
his God and he will be my son. 8 But the cowardly, the
unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually
immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters
and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of
burning sulfur. This is the second death."
33. TAKEAWAYS:
Faithfulness, though costly, is not futile.
Revelation 2:10 Do not be afraid of what you are
about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of

36. TAKEAWAYS:

Revelation 22:5 There will be no more night. They will
