Odysseus and his men came ashore after the Trojan War to restock their supplies. They found a cave full of sheep but it belonged to the Cyclops Polyphemus. When Polyphemus returned, Odysseus and his men had cooked some of the sheep. Polyphemus attacked with his club but Odysseus blinded him with a sharpened stick. Odysseus and his men escaped by pretending to be sheep and making sheep noises until they reached safety.
