Odysseus and his men land on an island inhabited by the Cyclops Polyphemus. Polyphemus traps them in his cave and eats two of Odysseus's men. Odysseus gets Polyphemus drunk and blinds him with a wooden stake. When Polyphemus yells for help, his brother thinks nothing is wrong. Odysseus and his men escape by clinging to the undersides of sheep. Polyphemus throws a boulder at their ship but misses. The gods make their journey harder with storms, adding seven more years to their travels.
