Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest-reigning monarch, passed away at age 96 on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle. She was born in 1926 and served as monarch for 70 years after being crowned in 1952. She witnessed tremendous public change and worked during World War II. She is survived by her four children: King Charles III, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. Her death marks the end of the second Elizabethan era and the beginning of the reign of King Charles III.
