THE ROBUCKS
Intergalactic Infomercial Guru, QUARZIN BLYNE
THOGASH, ,along with his hyperactive assistant,
IAN, send two prototype robots to Earth to serve
as adoptive parents to orphaned Earth twins.
Using old television shows as their models, you can
be sure they've built TIMMY and HASSlE a loving,
fun set of parents -- not to mention guaranteeing
them one heck of an interesting childhood!
THE ROBUCKS is designed to be run as 2-episode
programs, 11 minutes per episode, in a 30 minute
format. It is a fast paced animated comedy aimed
at children 6 to 12 years of age, but still
employing humor and popular culture references
around the edges that can hold sophisticated older
audiences. The "look" of the series is simple and
stylized, with rapid-fire one-liners and sight gags
built on an idea with endless possibilities.
4. Lives at orphanage with his
fraternal twin sister, Hassie.
Cute and appealing, with
round proportions, he's curious
about how things work and a
mischievous charmer.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
1) TIMMY ROBUCK - Male/6-8 years old.
They enter the "Win the Robucks" contest via Galactic Internet. When they win, he
can't quite accept his new foster parents as parents. While he thinks they're really "cool",
he has trouble becoming emotionally involved ("opening up") with Ward and June.
Timmy, often full of himself, needs to be brought back down to Earth. He loves his twin
sister, although she can sometimes be a pill.
2) HASSlE ROBUCK - Female/Timmy's fraternal twin sister:
An inch taller than Timmy
(they're at that age), Hassie
doesn't realize her own
potential. She does, however,
know when enough is enough.
We can't say the same thing
about Timmy.
Hassie is not afraid to be vulnerable or demonstrate she needs her new parents' attention
and support. She is a bit smarter than her brother, but usually defers to him - just before
disaster strikes! Hassie strives to save the day whenever Timmy gets into trouble, or does
something stupid, or both.
5. Sounds like numerous
1950's TV-show dads,
depending on the situation
-- Ricky Ricardo, for
instance, when he gets
upset or excited, and
Robert "Father Knows
Best" Young when
dispensing fatherly
advice. Wears business
suits to work, loud
Hawaiian shirts on
weekends, and grease
stained aprons for those
outdoor barbecues that
everyone else hates.
Ward is Timmy and Hassie's new adoptive father, devoted husband and Scout Master.
4) JUNE ROBUCK - Female/mid 30's; Ward's Robotic Better Half:
Shaped like Donna Reed
and always dressed to "the
nines". There's a bit of Mrs.
Cleaver in her, too.
Programmed with over one
million tasty food recipes,
she can talk on the phone,
mix up cookie dough and
iron the clothes all at the
same time.
She's a devoted wife and mother. Any "catastrophe" can and should be solved with a hug
and a cookie. She's also Den Mother and head of the P.T.A.
6. 5) QUARZIN BLYNE THOGASH - Malellate 50's; Alien, planet Dreyzahk:
He's the Intergalactic Infomercial
Guru to the Stars!! Standing a
commanding seven-foot, with four
arms, this green blob hermit inventor
lives in his combination laboratory/
broadcast studio. He dresses casually
in turtleneck sweaters to contain his
bulk. Model: Mike Levy (Amazing
Discoveries, Supermarket Sweeps).
Designs the Robucks as the
quintessential All-American Parents.
Quarzin originally planned to call his latest
invention "Robopops'', but that did not test welL
6) IAN -Male/30's; Android ToolBot, planet Dreyzahk:
A pint-sized floating cylinder with
blinking lights, stabilizers, and rotopellor.
There are eyes somewhere under those
goggles. Models: Ian Long (Mike Levy's
assistant on Amazing Discoveries)
Oh, .. .Ian isn't one ofQuarzin's inventions -- he applied for the job. Ian is Quarzin's
hyperactive, tool belt-wearing assistant. He speaks with a Cockney accent.
7) H.U.U.V.I.R. (Hovering Universal Utility Vacuum with Integrated Recycler)
The robotic combination vacuum cleaner/dog is thrown
in as an added bonus for ordering your "Robuck" right
away. H.U.U.V.I.R. ("Hoover") acts like a dog and does
tricks, but is not quite house- broken yet. He even has a
waste storage compartment and special attachments, for
those hard-to-reach places. He's a bottomless pit that
sucks up, food, dirt, dust, and sometimes, little boys.
But wait! Plug him in! H.U.U.V.I.R.'s batteries are rechargeable, and it's Timmy's
chore to plug in the dog before bedtime. Careful, his metallic tail can do a lot of damage
when he is a happy puppy!

7. ROBUCKS HOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD - Exterior
Their comfortable combination home/spaceship sits at the end of an upper-
middle class suburban neighborhood. The weird exterior is the polar
opposite of the interior, which is modeled after Better Homes and Gardens
pin-up homes of the 1950's. After it suddenly just "shows up" (read: drops
like a rock out of nowhere), the neighbors begin to get a little nervous and
For Sale signs start going up.
8. ROBUCKS HOME - Interior
THE KITCHEN:
o 0 o a
Spacious, comfortable living with all the modern conveniences ... right out
of the 1950's. This kitchen is just one of the custom designed rooms
made especially for life with the Robucks. Here is where June can feel
right at home as she prepares a scrumptous family dinner or just bakes
those special cookies that sooth boo-boos and chase away the blues. Other
rooms (not pictured) include the living room, with most of the furnishings
protected with those memorable heavy plastic covers.

9. VARIOUS ROOMS IN THE ROBUCK'S HOUSE.
OTHER SERIES LOCATIONS
THE PLANET DREYZAHK ("Dray Zock").
Quarzin's home planet sitting so far out on the edge ofthe galaxy that television
broadcasts are just now arriving. Home to more varieties of aliens than a Sci-Fi
convention, Robots are considered just another life form here. As a matter of fact,
Robots raise families, go to school, and work at fast glop eateries. This, of course, is just
one Earthling's opinion of the food.
QUARZIN'S TV STUDIO/LABORATORY.
Thogash is the galaxy's favorite intergalactic infomercial guy. He's also an inventor
genius with a list of handy, dandy gadgets and inventions that grows every day.
This TV studio is right out of 1950's Earth technology was actually his first great idea.
It shares space with his inventor's lab and helps publicize his inventions and
goodies from star to shining star.
Remember, we've been transported back to 1950's T.V. shows which have served as the
models for this 'Back to the Future-istic' family home!

THE ROBUCKS
"My Parents Are From Outer Space!" -- Pilot Episode Synopsis
We open on an old fashioned test pattern with an AlienlIndian head. V.O. "Do not
attempt to adjust your television sets ... "
"Awesome Inventions," from the planet Dreyzahk, are being advertised on the Galactic
Internet. Watching the weirdest infomercial yet, are fraternal twins and orphans,
TIMMY AND HASSlE ROBUCK. "Boys and girls of Earth," says QUARZIN BLYNE
THOGASH, our inventor/host, "How would you like to be the first on your block to be
able to say, 'My parents are from outer space,' and really mean it." Having observed
Earth Customs from old reruns of 1950's televisions shows, alien research scientists have
designed the perfect Earth parents, "The Robucks". Along with an extra-added bonus-
H.U.U.V.I.R., the robotic family dog and vacuum cleaner - these lucky children win the
"fust Robotic Parents to Earth Children" over the internet, and are adopted into a weird
and wonderful set of circumstances that leads to extraordinary and hilarious situations -
funny, entertaining and more enticing than milk and cookies.
With the help oflAN, the all-purpose hovering maintenance 'toolbot', the Prototype
'Ward' and 'June' Robucks robots made ready and delivered to this typical suburban cul-
de-sac ... along with their new house, which drops in on top of a tract home up for sale!
Outside, it resembles a futuristic space ship, but inside the decor is distinctly 1950's.
With the help of Quarzin's patented SPAULDING-CORDER (imagine a bouncing, twee-
voiced, frenetic basketball with an old Bell & Howe1l8mm camera strapped to itl) we
observe the initial meeting as TIMMY and HASSlE arrive at Robucks' front door,
suitcases in hand. Timmy and Hassie, stare amazed at the sight of their new mom and
dad. The living room has shiny, clear plastic on all the furniture. June, all smiles, serves
milk and cookies.
From the warm welcomes WARD and JUNE ROBUCK, a 'slight period of adjustment'
thrusts us into wild and crazy episodes as children of the 90's begin life with their new
robotic, adoptive parents, straight out of the 50's ... who just happen to be from
outerspace. There are still a few bugs to worked out. .. from the fust time we here Ward
say, "Honey, I'm home!"
CUT TO: Old fashioned test pattern with an AlienlIndian head (that opened the episode)
as it shrinks to a tiny dot on our T.V screen.
11. THE ROBUCKS
STORY SYNOPSIS LISTING
1) ''MYPARENTSAREFROMOUTERSPACE".Quarzin and Ian tape an
Infomercial to sell their Robucks. We are introduced to the
characters, their features, and accessories. During the taping, Timmy
starts switching on all the 'Ward' prototypes on the set. They spring
to life with "Honey, we're home!" and begin chasing the kids' and
June around the studio.
2) "GUESSWHAT'SCOMINGTO DINNER".In order to impress the kids'
social workers, June and Ward invite them, Quarzin, and Ian for their
first Thanksgiving dinner. Timmy sabotages their plans by re-
programming "mom" with his own special menu -- ice cream, yogurt,
tofu, gummi bears, etc. H.U.U.V.I.R.begs for scraps at the table, but
soon learns tofu does not agree with him. Episode ends as Quarzin's
double-parked spaceship gets a parking ticket. And the argument
b· Iegms ....
3) "HASSlEATTHEBAT". Ward coaches the kids' co-ed little League
team. Hassie, unsure of herself, hits the winning home run, making
the overconfident Timmy feel like a schlemiel. Ward tries to comfort
his son with fatherly advice on how to be a good loser. For a brief
moment, Timmy and Ward bond. Ward trips over home base.
4) "PAYCHECKTOPAYCHECK".June gets ajob at the perfume and
cosmetic counter of a department store. She gloats when she
discovers she makes more than Ward, who works at a hardware
store that just happens to be in the same shopping mall as her
department store. They have a heated argument at the crowded
food court, and the customers get involved in a hilarious food fight
as the robotic couple kiss and make up.
12. 5) "WEEKENDATQUARZIN'S".Ward trips over an ottoman and has to be
sent out for repairs. The family puts H.U.U.V.I.R.in a kennel and
journeys with Ward to Quarzin's factory, which resembles a Florida
retirement resort. Ian serves as masseuse. The kids meet robotic
'grandparents' who spoil them. And Ward discovers his warranty
expired the day before his accident.
6) "PARENTTEACHERANNIHILATION".June is a full-time Mom and, to
be with the children more, finds herself promoted (to the relief of
other potential 'honorees') to the head of the local P.T.A. For her first
duty, organizing the Spring Dance and Silent Auction, she gathers
"Mystery Baskets" from the various parents to be auctioned off for
money. The kids' overpowering teacher, MizzGould (kids call her
"Ghoul"), fearing June as some kind of government conspiracy,
sabotages the baskets and "augments" them with many strange and
funny extras such as tools, gadgets, small alien contraptions, et al.,
that then become the objects of fights and finally all-out mayhem at
the dance. Undaunted, June and Ward dance and become the center
of the festivities (ala "Saturday Night Fever").
7) "THESTEPFORDROBUCKS".Only after mass production on Robucks
begins, it occurs to Quarzin that he shouldn't have made them all the
same. More Robucks invade the suburbs.
8) "PUKEY-MAN!"Timmy, assuming H.U.U.V.I.R.has vacuumed up his
favorite toy, makes the mistake of pulling out his containment unit.
A ton of trash, toy excluded, "re-integrates" Ireverts to its original
form -- all over the living room. In a LONGSHOTof the house, we
HEAR"AGHHHHHHHHHH!!!PUKEY-MAN!"
9) "BACHELORFAD". Ian decides it's time he moved out of his parents'
house -- and into the high-rent apartment building of that cute
make-up artist who won't give him the time of day. Of course, he's
"breaking his mother's heart." Of course he can't afford the monthly
rent. So he builds his own roommate. They'll make the perfect "Odd
Couple" if they don't kill each other first.
13. 10) "BEREPAIRED".Scout Master Ward leads Timmy's BoyScout troop
on a weekend camping trip, where they encounter an angry grizzly
bear. From their hiding place, the scouts advise Ward to play dead.
He does, but the bear manages to open his back and pullout a few
navigational parts and tubes before moving away. As they help him
up, the bear reappears, and this time Ward demonstrates how
courageous and strong he can be when he's protecting kids. Timmy
tries to be blase, but we can see he's impressed and thankful. After
the bear is sent packing -- hilariously -- the disoriented robot trips
over a boulder. Timmy smiles at his dad and says, "Lookslike we
get to visit Uncle Ian again!"
