The Pickpocket In Angels Island

The narrator awakens in a cell on Angel Island, where he sees a man who committed suicide hanging from a towel. With only rats for company, he is offered food by a guard but it is thrown on the dirty floor. Seeing an opportunity, the narrator grabs the guard's keys when he is in reach and unlocks his cell. He eats from the ice box, then boards a ferry to escape from the island and regain his freedom.
