2. How it all started… when a young Greek man named Coroebus won a running race. The original Olympic Games were religious in nature. Every four years, Greek athletes and spectators from towns and outlying areas made a truce and travelled peacefully to Olympia to engage in competitions. The stadium at Olympia could seat 50,000 people.
3. Why it stopped…. As time passed, more games found their way into the Olympic roster. After the Romans conquered Greece, the Olympic Games lost their appeal because champions demanded monetary prizes. Finally in A.D 394, the Roman emperor Theodosius decreed that the games be halted.
4. Hot it restarted…. The modern Olympics witch is what we compete in now restarted in 1896 The 1896 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the I Olympiad, was a sport event celebrated in Athens, Greece, from April 6 to April 15, 1896. It was the first international Olympic Games held in the Modern area, because Ancient Greece was the home of the Olympic Games, Athens was perceived to be a choice to stage the modern Games. It was chosen as the host city during a congress organized by Pierre De Coubertin a Frenchman and historian, in Paris, on June 23, 1894
