X is a stage element of guitar showmanship popularised by Y. X is performed by going
in the squatting position, and moving forward letting one lower leg swing back and
forth in the air while playing the guitar.
Y states that he used to perform X as a child to entertain his family. In an interview
with Rolling Stone magazine he also claimed that it was in a 1956 show in New York
City that he performed it for the first time in order to hide pleats in his silk suit. As the
audience loved these moves, he did them again and again.

2. ID X and the album.
On 25 March 1966, photographer Robert Whitaker had the X in the studio for a
conceptual art piece titled A Somnambulant Adventure. For the shoot, Whitaker took
a series of pictures of the group dressed in butcher smocks and draped with pieces of
meat and body parts from plastic baby dolls. The group played along as they were tired
of the usual photo shoots— recalled the band having "boredom and resentment at
having to do another photo session and another X thing"—and the concept was
compatible with their own black humor. _____ pushed strongly for the photo's
inclusion as the album cover, and reportedly described it as "our comment on the
[Vietnam] war".
A photograph of the band smiling amid the mock carnage was used as promotional
advertisements for the British release of the “__________" single.

Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 60 (titled X), was written c. 1939–40. Initially dedicated to the life and deeds of
Y, Shostakovich decided instead to dedicate the symphony to the city of X. The work remains one of Shostakovich's best-known
compositions.
The piece soon became very popular in both the Soviet Union and the West as a symbol of resistance to Nazi totalitarianism and
militarism. It is still regarded as the major musical testament of the estimated 25 million Soviet citizens who lost their lives in World War
II. The symphony is played frequently at the X Cemetery, where half a million victims of the 900-day Siege of X are buried.

4.Tried calling Sofie Fatale for answers?
X is a Scots poem written by Y in 1788 and set to the tune of some traditional folk
song. The song begins by posing a rhetorical question as to whether it is right that old
times be forgotten, and is generally interpreted as a call to remember long-standing
friendships. It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking
world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight.
By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations and as a farewell or ending to
other occasions. The international Boy Scout youth movement, in many countries, uses
it to close jamborees and other functions.
Either give X, or give the English translation and Y.

9. “Welcome to my world”
The X sound originated during the mid 1950s as a subgenre of American country
music, replacing the chart dominance of the rough honky tonk music which was
most popular in the 1940s and 1950s with "smooth strings and choruses",
"sophisticated background vocals" and "smooth tempos". It was an attempt "to
revive country sales, which had been devastated by the rise of rock 'n' roll. The X
sound was pioneered by staff at Decca Records, RCA Records and Columbia
Records in X, Tennessee

11. Apply some suntan on me, will you, Senpai?
X is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess.
The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera
was based, although the song is also co-credited to Ira Gershwin by ASCAP.
The song soon became a popular and much recorded jazz standard, described as
"without doubt ... one of the finest songs the composer ever wrote ... Gershwin's highly
evocative writing brilliantly mixes elements of jazz and the song styles of blacks in the
southeast United States from the early twentieth century"
The song is recognized as one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded
music, with more than 33,000 covers by groups and solo performers.

According to an interview _____gave in the 1950s, one night in 1939 he was playing "Cherokee" in
a jam session with guitarist William "Biddy" Fleet when he hit upon a method for developing his
solos that enabled one of his main musical innovations. He realized that the 12 semitones of the
chromatic scale can lead melodically to any key, breaking some of the confines of simpler jazz
soloing.
Early in its development, this new type of jazz was rejected by many of the established, traditional
jazz musicians who disdained their younger counterparts. The X-ers responded by calling these
traditionalists "moldy figs".
Some researchers speculate that it was a term used by Charlie Christian because it sounded like
something he hummed along with his playing. Dizzy Gillespie stated that the audiences coined
the name after hearing him scat the then-nameless tunes to his players and the press ultimately
picked it up, using it as an official term: "People, when they'd wanna ask for those numbers and
didn't know the name, would ask for X." Another theory is that it derives from the cry of "Arriba!
Arriba!" used by Latin American bandleaders of the period to encourage their bands.

“X of YZ" is a 1952 popular song with music by George Shearing and lyrics by George
David Weiss under the pseudonym "B. Y. Forster" in order to circumvent the rule that
ASCAP and BMI composers could not collaborate. The song has become a jazz
standard.
The title refers to Charlie "Y" Parker and the YZ jazz club named after him.
Parker, in reality, played very few jobs at YZ, not because he was troublesome (from
drug addiction), but, according to Gene Ramey, Goodstein said, "He was continually
wanting money." Ramey had persuaded Goodstein to let Parker perform at YZ with his
band on a pair of Monday nights in 1954.
U2 references the club in the song "Angel of Harlem" with the lyrics "...YZ on 53, the
streets sounds like a symphony…”
Sesame Street featured a night club called YZ, run by Hoots the Owl, which was
occupied by various Ys.

X completed his paratrooper training in just over eight months, and Major General C. W. G. Rich awarded him the
prestigious Screaming Eagles patch on January 11, 1962. On June 29, 1962, Captain Gilbert Batchman granted X an
honorable discharge on the basis of unsuitability. X later spoke of his dislike of the army and falsely stated that he had
received a medical discharge after breaking his ankle during his 26th parachute jump.
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr had first seen X performing on 11 January 1967 at the Bag O'Nails club in London. On 4
june 1967 McCartney, George Harrison, Jane Asher and Pattie Boyd watched them headline a bill at the city's Saville
Theatre. X opened his set with a version of the title track from The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album,
which had been released just three days before. On that night, X, played a white Stratocaster.

"Gloomy Sunday", is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress and published
in 1933.Poet LĂĄszlĂł JĂĄvor wrote his own lyrics to the song, titled SzomorĂş vasĂĄrnap (Sad Sunday)The
original musical composition was a piano melody in C-minor, with the lyrics being sung over it. Seress
wrote the song at the time of the Great Depression and increasing fascist influence in the writer's native
Hungary. There have been several urban legends regarding the song over the years. However, most of
these claims are unsubstantiated. The BBC banned Billie Holiday's version of the song from being
broadcast, as being detrimental to wartime morale, but allowed performances of instrumental
versions. However, there is little evidence of any other radio bans ; the BBC's ban was lifted only in
2002.What is the urban legend?
Suicide
Several suicides have been associated with this song. The composer himself committed suicide in 1968.
19. XY --------> XZ + AB ; XZ <----------> Z
The origin of the group's name is disputed. "XY" is slang for a used paper match splint
to hold a marijuana joint that is too short to hold without burning the fingers – an
improvised roach clip. A popular conjecture suggests this was the origin of the band's
name, but band member Jorma Kaukonen has denied this and stated that the name
was invented by his friend Steve Talbot as a parody of blues names such as Blind
Lemon X. A 2007 press release quoted Kaukonen as saying:
"I had this friend [Talbot] in Berkeley who came up with funny names for people,"
explains Kaukonen. "His name for me was Blind Thomas XY (for blues pioneer Blind
Lemon X). When the guys were looking for band names and nobody could come up
with something, I remember saying, 'You want a silly band name? I got a silly band
name for you!'"

Group leader X got the idea for song this from watching a lousy club band perform. As
the story goes, X was in _______ on a rainy night. He ducked into a bar where a
mediocre band was closing out the night to an audience that was maybe four or five
drunks unaware of their surroundings. The hapless band ended their set with the lead
singer announcing, with no apparent irony, "Goodnight and thank you. ___ ____ ____ Y
" . X got a lot of songwriting ideas from observing everyday people, something that got
harder to do when he became famous.
Give me X and Y. (Y is a phrase, not a single word)
“A band is blowing dixie double four time”
X= Mark Knopfler
Y= Sultans of Swing
22
The first part of the title of the song comes from A , who was X ‘s spiritual guru. The
second part comes from B, an experimental, minimalist composer X admired - many of
the keyboard riffs and sound effects on Y (album) were a result of his influence.
According to the Y liner notes, X wrote it as his vision of what would happen if the
spirit of A was fed into a computer and transformed into music. The result would be
______ in the style of B , or "___________."
Give me X and Y. Brownie points for A and B.
X= Pete Townshend

23. Careful with that Tea Set !

also called the Tea Set, were to perform at one of their gigs. The name AB is derived
from the given names of two blues musicians whose Piedmont blues records X had in
his collection, A _____ and B_____ .

X= Syd Barret
A=Pink Anderson
B=Floyd Council

“Finally we learn the mysterious girl’s name: an allusion to Resusci X (also known as
CPR X ), a training mannequin used for teaching resuscitation.
“X, ____ ____ ____ ?” is a phrase used in CPR training courses . This line is repeated
several times in the song.
Hinted at with the repetition of this line is the narrator’s obsession over the girl, she
has been struck down yet Y still interrogates her like she still has life, this could hint at
the narrator’s denial of her death or just plain lunacy.”
Give me the Song and the phrase/X. No points for Y.

Y=Michael Jackson

Kathleen Hanna, the lead singer of the group Bikini Kill, gave X the idea for the title of
the song Y when she spray painted "X Y " on his bedroom wall after a night of
drinking and spraying graffiti around the Seattle area. In his pre-Y (X’s wife) days, X
went out with Bikini Kill lead singer Tobi Vail, but she dumped him. Vail wore _____
______ deodorant, and Hanna was implying that X was marked with her scent.

Beethoven's secretary, Ferdinand Ries said that:
...Not only I, but many of Beethoven's closer friends, saw this symphony on his table, beautifully copied in

very bottom ...
I was the first to tell him the news … whereupon he broke into a rage and exclaimed, "So he is no more
than a common mortal! Now, too, he will tread under foot all the rights of Man, indulge only his ambition;
now he will think himself superior to all men, become a tyrant!" Beethoven went to the table, seized the
top of the title-page, tore it in half and threw it on the floor. The page had to be recopied, and it was only
now that the symphony received the title Sinfonia eroica

X was educated for a career as a civil servant. There was scant opportunity for a musical career in Russia
at that time and no system of public music education. Despite his many popular successes, X's life was
punctuated by personal crises and depression His homosexuality, which he kept private, has traditionally
also been considered a major factor, though some musicologists now downplay its importance. While his
music has remained popular among audiences, critical opinions were initially mixed. Some Russians did
not feel it was sufficiently representative of native musical values and expressed suspicion that Europeans
accepted the music for its Western elements.
Many of X's works have Ukrainian subjects or incorporate Ukrainian folk songs or melodies. Among these
are the operas Mazepa (based on Aleksandr Pushkin's poem), Little Shoes, and Night before Christmas
(or Vakula the Smith, based on Nikolai Gogol's story); symphonies No. 2 (Little Russian), No. 4, and No. 7
(finished and edited by Semyon Bogatyrev); the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in B-flat Minor.

“I went down to the Chelsea drugstore

The Chelsea Drugstore wasn’t open for very long (1968-1971), but’s aesthetic appeal –

X's mother divorced his father when he was one year old, and he was raised by his
stepfather without knowing it; he even met his true father without even realizing they
were related. X's real father, Edward Severson III, died of multiple sclerosis in 1981,
before X could see him again. This is the autobiographical part of the song that shows
up in the opening lyrics. X didn't get along with his stepfather, and took out his lyrical
wrath on him in the song "A". Until he dropped out of high school, X was known as X
Mueller, but he took his mother's maiden name after finding out the truth about his

“Most X open with a short main theme, the subject, which then sounds successively in
each voice (after the first voice is finished stating the subject, a second voice repeats
the subject at a different pitch, and other voices repeat in the same way); when each
voice has entered, the exposition is complete. This is often followed by a connecting
passage, or episode, developed from previously heard material; further "entries" of the
subject then are heard in related keys. Episodes (if applicable) and entries are usually
alternated until the "final entry" of the subject, by which point the music has returned
to the opening key, or tonic, which is often followed by closing material, the coda. In
this sense, a X is a style of composition, rather than a fixed structure.”

38 Chaste Flower
The lady in this picture is Aino AcktĂŠ, a
Finnish soprano. She was the first
international star of the Finnish opera
scene. She debuted in 1897 at the Paris
Grand Opera and her final public
performance took place at the Savonlinna
Opera Festival in 1930.
In the world of pop culture, why is Aino
AcktĂŠ so famous?
Aino AcktĂŠ is believed to be the inspiration for the character of Bianca
Castafiore in Tintin comics by Herge.
39 They Might Be Giants
According to a booklet that was included in their first album, the band's name was a reference to a
fictional character, a “X" that happens upon a band of musicians and is enthralled with their music.
The character is reminiscent of those from the Renaissance tales of François Rabelais.
From the start, X was a particularly flexible band because of the exceptionally broad musical skills
of its members. One X album would list a total of 46 instruments in the musician credits - all of
which had been played by group members - and five of the six members sang, enabling the band
to write and perform detailed vocal harmony. The band's approach to songwriting was equally
diverse, blending a wide variety of ideas and influences.
Even by the standards of progressive rock, X’s music is generally considered to be particularly
complex and demanding.
Id X.

40 Designed this way
In 2010, Polaroid Inc. appointed X as the
Creative Director of the company. In the 2011
CES at Las Vegas, Polaroid unveiled the
“GL20 Camera Glasses” which contain a
camera and 1.5-inch OLED screens that can
capture and display images and video to
people around the user. This gadget was
designed by X for Polaroid. X said that she
came up with the concept for the glasses on
her “Fameball" tour.
Id X.
X = Lady Gaga
41 Once upon a time
Gothic metal is a fusion genre combining the heaviness of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres
of gothic rock. The genre originated during the early 1990s in Europe. Lyrics are generally dark
and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences. Some
examples of Gothic metal bands include - Cradle of Filth, Theatre of Tragedy etc.
One of the trademark feature of Gothic Metal songs is the practice of combining aggressive male
vocals with melodic female vocals, a contrast that has since been adopted by many gothic metal
groups. This type of vocals has been nicknamed the “X vocals”, named after the famous
story/movie X.
Id X.
X = Beauty and the Beast
42 Life, the universe and everything
The list of names which were being considered for this music album by X included names like
“Pow Wow” and “Down to Earth”.
Finally, the band settled for the name Y which was suggested by the author Z at a dinner one night
with the band members. Z was spurred by the promise of a donation to his favourite charity, the
“Environmental Investigation Agency”, and he suggested the name Y, which was a phrase used in
the lyrics of a song from this music album.
Id X, Y and Z.
X = Pink Floyd, Y = The Division Bell, Z = Douglas Adams
43 Mother of all solos
Lead guitarist X has been quoted as having an initial disdain for the song
due to its roots as simply a "string skipping" exercise and a joke at the
time. During a jam session at the band's house, the drummer and X were
warming up and X began to play a "circus" melody while making faces at
the drummer. The rhythm guitarist asked X to play it again as he quite
liked it. In his autobiography, X said "within an hour my guitar exercise
had become something else".
Meanwhile, lead singer Y was listening to the musicians upstairs in his
room and was inspired to write lyrics, which became complete by the
following afternoon. He based it on his girlfriend Erin Everly, and declared
that Lynyrd Skynyrd served as an inspiration "to make sure that we'd got
that heartfelt feeling”. On the next composing session, the band added
both a bridge and a guitar solo to the song.
This is the background story behind which famous song?
44 I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords
This is a song titled “Daddy’s Car” which was released in September 2016. The lyrics of this song
was written by the French composer BenoĂŽt CarrĂŠ.
What unique distinction did this song achieve?
First song to be composed by an A.I.

  • 6. 1.Marty B. Mcfly? X is a stage element of guitar showmanship popularised by Y. X is performed by going in the squatting position, and moving forward letting one lower leg swing back and forth in the air while playing the guitar. Y states that he used to perform X as a child to entertain his family. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine he also claimed that it was in a 1956 show in New York City that he performed it for the first time in order to hide pleats in his silk suit. As the audience loved these moves, he did them again and again. You most probably would have seen Angus Young doing this live.
  • 7.
  • 9. 2. ID X and the album. On 25 March 1966, photographer Robert Whitaker had the X in the studio for a conceptual art piece titled A Somnambulant Adventure. For the shoot, Whitaker took a series of pictures of the group dressed in butcher smocks and draped with pieces of meat and body parts from plastic baby dolls. The group played along as they were tired of the usual photo shoots— recalled the band having "boredom and resentment at having to do another photo session and another X thing"—and the concept was compatible with their own black humor. _____ pushed strongly for the photo's inclusion as the album cover, and reportedly described it as "our comment on the [Vietnam] war". A photograph of the band smiling amid the mock carnage was used as promotional advertisements for the British release of the “__________" single.

  • 12. 3. Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 60 (titled X), was written c. 1939–40. Initially dedicated to the life and deeds of Y, Shostakovich decided instead to dedicate the symphony to the city of X. The work remains one of Shostakovich's best-known compositions. The piece soon became very popular in both the Soviet Union and the West as a symbol of resistance to Nazi totalitarianism and militarism. It is still regarded as the major musical testament of the estimated 25 million Soviet citizens who lost their lives in World War II. The symphony is played frequently at the X Cemetery, where half a million victims of the 900-day Siege of X are buried.
  • 13.
  • 15. 4.Tried calling Sofie Fatale for answers? X is a Scots poem written by Y in 1788 and set to the tune of some traditional folk song. The song begins by posing a rhetorical question as to whether it is right that old times be forgotten, and is generally interpreted as a call to remember long-standing friendships. It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations and as a farewell or ending to other occasions. The international Boy Scout youth movement, in many countries, uses it to close jamborees and other functions. Either give X, or give the English translation and Y.

  • 45. 11. Apply some suntan on me, will you, Senpai? X is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera was based, although the song is also co-credited to Ira Gershwin by ASCAP. The song soon became a popular and much recorded jazz standard, described as "without doubt ... one of the finest songs the composer ever wrote ... Gershwin's highly evocative writing brilliantly mixes elements of jazz and the song styles of blacks in the southeast United States from the early twentieth century" The song is recognized as one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music, with more than 33,000 covers by groups and solo performers.

  • 48. 12. According to an interview _____gave in the 1950s, one night in 1939 he was playing "Cherokee" in a jam session with guitarist William "Biddy" Fleet when he hit upon a method for developing his solos that enabled one of his main musical innovations. He realized that the 12 semitones of the chromatic scale can lead melodically to any key, breaking some of the confines of simpler jazz soloing. Early in its development, this new type of jazz was rejected by many of the established, traditional jazz musicians who disdained their younger counterparts. The X-ers responded by calling these traditionalists "moldy figs". Some researchers speculate that it was a term used by Charlie Christian because it sounded like something he hummed along with his playing. Dizzy Gillespie stated that the audiences coined the name after hearing him scat the then-nameless tunes to his players and the press ultimately picked it up, using it as an official term: "People, when they'd wanna ask for those numbers and didn't know the name, would ask for X." Another theory is that it derives from the cry of "Arriba! Arriba!" used by Latin American bandleaders of the period to encourage their bands.

  • 54. 14 “X of YZ" is a 1952 popular song with music by George Shearing and lyrics by George David Weiss under the pseudonym "B. Y. Forster" in order to circumvent the rule that ASCAP and BMI composers could not collaborate. The song has become a jazz standard. The title refers to Charlie "Y" Parker and the YZ jazz club named after him. Parker, in reality, played very few jobs at YZ, not because he was troublesome (from drug addiction), but, according to Gene Ramey, Goodstein said, "He was continually wanting money." Ramey had persuaded Goodstein to let Parker perform at YZ with his band on a pair of Monday nights in 1954. U2 references the club in the song "Angel of Harlem" with the lyrics "...YZ on 53, the streets sounds like a symphony…” Sesame Street featured a night club called YZ, run by Hoots the Owl, which was occupied by various Ys.

Give funda "Gloomy Sunday", is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress and published in 1933.Poet LĂĄszlĂł JĂĄvor wrote his own lyrics to the song, titled SzomorĂş vasĂĄrnap (Sad Sunday)The original musical composition was a piano melody in C-minor, with the lyrics being sung over it. Seress wrote the song at the time of the Great Depression and increasing fascist influence in the writer's native Hungary. There have been several urban legends regarding the song over the years. However, most of these claims are unsubstantiated. The BBC banned Billie Holiday's version of the song from being broadcast, as being detrimental to wartime morale, but allowed performances of instrumental versions. However, there is little evidence of any other radio bans ; the BBC's ban was lifted only in 2002.What is the urban legend?

The character is reminiscent of those from the Renaissance tales of François Rabelais. From the start, X was a particularly flexible band because of the exceptionally broad musical skills of its members. One X album would list a total of 46 instruments in the musician credits - all of which had been played by group members - and five of the six members sang, enabling the band to write and perform detailed vocal harmony. The band's approach to songwriting was equally diverse, blending a wide variety of ideas and influences. Even by the standards of progressive rock, X’s music is generally considered to be particularly complex and demanding. Id X.

  • 195. 43 Mother of all solos Lead guitarist X has been quoted as having an initial disdain for the song due to its roots as simply a "string skipping" exercise and a joke at the time. During a jam session at the band's house, the drummer and X were warming up and X began to play a "circus" melody while making faces at the drummer. The rhythm guitarist asked X to play it again as he quite liked it. In his autobiography, X said "within an hour my guitar exercise had become something else". Meanwhile, lead singer Y was listening to the musicians upstairs in his room and was inspired to write lyrics, which became complete by the following afternoon. He based it on his girlfriend Erin Everly, and declared that Lynyrd Skynyrd served as an inspiration "to make sure that we'd got that heartfelt feeling”. On the next composing session, the band added both a bridge and a guitar solo to the song. This is the background story behind which famous song?
