WORKFLOW
General overview of work
streams:
● Arrived on a live project
after several years work -
sense making activity
● Responsible for UoR
content
© University of Reading 2022
COPYRIGHT WORKSTREAM
● Flexibility
● Divide content into
batches that require
similar approaches
● In a full time week I
can spend 2-3 days
on copyright work
but this will ebb and
flow

RIGHTS: RELATIONSHIPS, RESPONSIBILITIES, RISK,
and REPUTATION
I have to be mindful of various factors whilst following procedures in place:
● Risk ultimately lies with the institution, we also have relationships and responsibilities to
maintain with depositors (working business archives).
● That I can create new relationships - there can be warmth in interactions! - people are
often willing to help.
● Immediate relationships with team members/stake holders managing expectations
(Including my own)
● Mindful of UoR + MAPP reputation
LESSONS LEARNT
1- Build in time: research - contact - refining workflows and refining rights statements
2- Advice to fellow new professionals: Not alone - use your support networks
3- Takedown language – risk based approach - after a ‘diligent search’
4- Attend training and further your own knowledge
5- Be prepared to answer team questions - especially when working at a granular level
THANK YOU
