The product of the 1938 merger of the Lagos Golf Club
and the European Club, the Ikoyi Club 1938 remained
for many years an exclusive enclave of European
expatriates. Today, however, the establishment exists
as a truly multi-racial club with a membership of
around 10,000. The club is located on 465 acres in the
Ikoyi neighborhood on Lagos Island.
4. Conclusion
The Ikoyi Club 1938’s central facility is its clubhouse,
called the Rotunda, which consists of a health club
with gym, a Jacuzzi and sauna, a ballroom, a
restaurant, committee rooms, a library, and other
amenities. There are also indoor facilities for
badminton, snooker and billiards, squash, table tennis,
and other pastimes. The grounds are home to a world-
famous 18-hole golf course and nine superb tennis
