President Andrew Jackson's home in Nashville, TN was called The Hermitage. Jackson purchased the 1,050 acre property in 1804 and it served as his home as well as housing over 300 slaves. The Hermitage contained a large cotton plantation, making Jackson wealthy and influential as a "planter elite". The current mansion on the property was completed in the 1830s.
