The document discusses Jesus' crucifixion according to the Gospels of Mark and Matthew. It describes how Jesus was betrayed by Judas, arrested, and brought before the high priest and Pontius Pilate. Though found innocent, he was sentenced to death by crucifixion due to the urging of the high priests who were envious of him. While on the cross, Jesus endured great physical suffering and cried out feeling abandoned by God. With his final words "It is finished," he gave up his spirit, and with his death the veil of the temple was torn signifying access to God.
The document discusses John the Baptist and his role as a witness to Jesus Christ. It notes that John was sent by God to bear witness to the light of Christ in order to help people believe. John fulfilled his divine mission by preparing the way for the Lord and pointing others to Jesus, even in the face of difficulties, without becoming offended. He remained faithful to his calling from God and accepted the circumstances he was given.
The document contains verses from the Quran and Hadith inviting people to worship Allah alone without ascribing partners to Him. It also contains verses about treating non-Muslims respectfully by granting them asylum if requested and ensuring their safety and security. The document encourages inviting people to Islam through wisdom, fair preaching, and better argument. It provides a website for more information on Islam and peace.
- Paul tells the story of his conversion experience on the road to Damascus to King Agrippa to defend himself against accusations from the Jews. He emphasizes how he went from persecuting Christians to becoming one and preaching to both Jews and Gentiles after encountering Jesus.
- The document then discusses the nature of conversion as an ongoing process rather than a single experience and how people interpret their sacred stories differently. It encourages reflecting on one's relationship with God and whether one has a sacred story to tell.
- Finally, it addresses what makes for a "safe place" to share one's sacred story, highlighting spiritual direction and community.
The document summarizes a debate between Christians and Muslims on television in South Africa about their respective religions. It notes that the Muslims on the panel expressed belief in Jesus as a prophet, which surprised many Christian viewers. The rest of the document discusses how the Quran portrays Jesus and Mary in a reverent light, mentioning them frequently and with honorific titles. It asserts that the Quran's teachings about them could not have been plagiarized by Muhammad since he was illiterate.
The document is a sermon about guarding one's heart and understanding the heart. It discusses how the heart includes the mind, emotions, desires, and how people and demonic influences can affect it. It encourages living according to the Spirit rather than the flesh, taking every thought captive to obey Christ, and sowing to please the Spirit to reap eternal life. The sermon uses the examples of Little King Will and Jesus to illustrate understanding and guarding the heart.
This document provides an analysis and commentary on Isaiah 53:1-12. It discusses how this passage prophesies Jesus as the suffering servant who would bear the sins of humanity. Some key points made include: Jewish people historically did not believe Isaiah 53 referred to Jesus as they were expecting a conquering messiah; the passage depicts the servant as having no beauty or majesty and being despised and rejected; it describes how he would bear our sorrows and be wounded for our transgressions so that through his suffering we can be healed. The document analyzes various verses in depth to draw connections between the prophecy and Jesus' life and crucifixion.
This is a series of authors writing on the issue of walking in the Spirit which helps believers see how the Holy Spirit plays a role in every area of our lives.

John the Baptist preached a message of repentance in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. Jesus, though sinless, was baptized by John to fulfill all righteousness. He was then led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Jesus overcame the temptations by relying on scripture, demonstrating His identity as the Son of God and obedience to God over Satan.
The document summarizes a debate on Christianity and Islam that was broadcast on television in South Africa. It notes that the Muslim participants were more accommodating of Jesus than the Christian participants were of Muhammad. It then discusses how the Quran portrays Jesus with great honor, referring to him by various names and titles more than 25 times. It emphasizes that Muslims must believe in Jesus as a prophet and messenger of God. The document highlights how the Quran and Muslims revere Mary, the mother of Jesus. It traces the story of Mary's birth and upbringing according to Islamic tradition.
ARS sponsored a class intended to help us to understand Islam. The teachers were Dan Conder and Dr. John Oakes. The class was 5/4/2013 in Gardena, CA. See below for class outline and more information.
Prophecy involves speaking the mind of God under divine inspiration. Effective prophecy will be in line with scripture, glorify Jesus, edify and not divide, love sinners but hate sin, convict without condemnation, present God as the solution, not be controlling, stand the test of time, be tested, be a sign to unbelievers, exhort and comfort others, and be given according to the speaker's faith. Prophecy should build up the body of Christ.
This document provides information on points of agreement and contradiction between Christianity and Islam, as well as guidelines for Muslim evangelism. It summarizes the key beliefs and practices of Islam, including the Five Fundamentals and Six Pillars. The document also examines areas where the Quran contradicts the Bible, such as its teachings about Jesus. Additionally, it uses the example of Abraham to highlight common ground and differences between the two faiths regarding faith and God's promises.
The document summarizes a sermon by Charles H. Spurgeon from 1879 on living as Christians among opposition. It provides comfort that Christians will face persecution, as Jesus did, but also advice such as not provoking enemies and overcoming evil with good. The goal is for unbelievers to see Christians' good deeds and praise God. It encourages staying faithful even among "lions" through God's strength and grace.
1) The document discusses the spiritual significance of the number 7 in the Bible and how it relates to the year 2017/5777.
2) It says this year is for coming to God's rest and abandoning oneself in His heart, as He will heal, deliver, and anoint with His seven spirits those who ask.
3) The conclusion encourages the reader to come as a child to their loving Father to find rest and receive what He has for them this year.
Before faith in Christ, we were spiritually dead due to sin. We followed Satan and indulged our sinful desires, condemned to wrath. But because of his great love and mercy, God made us alive with Christ through grace alone, not works. He raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in heaven so that we might glorify God for eternity as his workmanship, created for good works.
This document provides an overview of visions in the Bible and shares summaries of visions from several prophets. It begins by defining what a vision is and noting that visions occurred in an awakened state, differing from dreams. Visions needed to align with Scripture. The document then summarizes the vision of Moses at the burning bush, noting God's instructions and Moses' reaction. It next summarizes the vision of Joshua encountering the commander of the army of the Lord and being instructed to remove his sandals. The vision of Isaiah seeing God on his throne and being cleansed by a seraphim is then outlined. Finally, the document briefly summarizes Jeremiah's visions of an almond branch and boiling pot and their meanings.
Jesus was causing some to be offended by himGLENN PEASE
- Some people were offended by Jesus because of his humble appearance as a peasant rather than a glorious prince. Others reject him because Christianity is not fashionable or associated with the elite. Still others reject him because few people follow him, preferring popular opinions over truth. However, the passage encourages having a noble spirit that follows what is right and true, even if unpopular. It asserts that truth has rarely been decided by majority and that being in the minority with Christ is stronger than being in the majority against him.
The document discusses several key points about Islam:
1) Islam comes from the root word "Salam" meaning peace, and means submitting one's will to God. Anyone who submits to God is called a Muslim.
2) Prophet Muhammad was not the founder of Islam - messengers and guides had been sent to all nations since the time of Adam. Muhammad was the final prophet sent for all of humanity.
3) The religion is called Islam and those who follow it are Muslims, not "Muhammedans". Muslims worship God alone.
4) Several revelations were sent including the Torah, Psalms, Gospel and Quran, with the Quran as the final revelation for all
The document discusses the lineage of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as described in the Bible. It notes that both Isaac and Ishmael were sons of Abraham, and God's promise to bless the descendants of Abraham could apply to both lineages. While the Bible focuses on the lineage of Isaac/Israelites, it is largely silent on the Ishmaelites except for brief mentions. The document argues that Prophet Muhammad descended from Ishmael and fulfilled the promise to bless the families of the earth through Abraham's descendants.
God honors Pinchas for his zealous defense of God's honor by killing an Israelite man and his Midianite lover who were publicly engaging in immorality. As a result, God grants Pinchas the priesthood and an eternal covenant of peace. Later, God honors Moses' request to appoint Joshua as the new leader of Israel by having Moses lay hands on Joshua, symbolically transferring his authority. God also honors the request of the daughters of Zelophehad to receive their inheritance, showing God cares for both men and women equally.
This document discusses the book of Hosea from the Bible. It begins by providing context about the prophet Hosea and his marriage to Gomer, which was meant as an object lesson about Israel's unfaithfulness to God. Several key points are made:
- Hosea names his children Jezreel, Lo-ruhamah, and Lo-ammi to symbolize God's punishment and rejection of Israel.
- However, God also promises to someday restore the people and give them new names and identities, showing his willingness to forgive and redeem.
- Hosea's marriage to Gomer, though difficult, represents how God loves and pursues even unfaithful people in
The document contains multiple Bible verses and passages that illustrate God's omniscience and how he knows everything about people. Some key points made are:
- God knows everything that happens even the smallest details like sparrows falling (Matthew 10:29-31)
- God knows people's thoughts and plans even before they act on them or say them out loud (Psalm 139:1-4, Matthew 9:4, 12:25)
- God reveals hidden truths and secrets to people that no one else knows (John 1:47-48, 4:16-18)
- No one can challenge or question God successfully because of his great wisdom and might (Job 9:3-4, 12
This is a study of biblical principles of faith. It is part of the Crossroads programme, written by Dr Kevin Smith and offered by the South African Theological Seminary.
1) The document is a sermon outline from First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi discussing chapters 3-4 of the book of Hebrews.
2) It emphasizes that Jesus became fully human so he could understand human suffering and temptation, and now serves as a merciful and faithful high priest in heaven for believers.
3) It encourages Christians not to harden their hearts like the Israelites did in the wilderness, but to embrace Jesus as their savior and helper during times of trial.
The Essentials of Apologetics - Why Jesus (Part 3)?Robin Schumacher
The document discusses evidence that Jesus is the Messiah and God based on biblical prophecies and teachings. It notes that the Old Testament contains over 100 prophecies about the Messiah that Jesus fulfilled, making the odds of accidental fulfillment astronomical. Jesus' words and actions, such as forgiving sins, claiming eternal existence, and judging the world, implied he saw himself as divine. The New Testament writers also presented Jesus as the Son of God and God in the flesh. The document examines passages where Jesus directly equated himself with God and his divine attributes. Overall, it argues that Jesus uniquely fits all the descriptions of the promised Messiah and claimed divinity, establishing him as the God-Man portrayed in the Bible.
The document discusses evidence for the historical existence of Jesus from both religious and secular sources. It notes that the Gospels and other New Testament texts, as well as early Christian writers, provide strong internal evidence that Jesus lived. Externally, it cites the Jewish historian Josephus and Roman historians Tacitus and Pliny the Younger as acknowledging Jesus lived in the 1st century in Judea. Prophecies about Jesus are also discussed as further evidence of his divinity. The document concludes that while Jesus' existence is well established, the question remains as to whether he was merely human or the Son of God as Christians believe.
Class 4 lift up jesus - THE SUPERNATURAL BIBLE STUDY - june 2016London Church
The document discusses evidence for Jesus performing miracles and being divine rather than just a prophet or teacher. It presents four Bible studies as examples:
1) The Supernatural Bible study examines prophecies about Jesus hundreds of years before his birth to argue the Bible has supernatural origins.
2) Jesus: Lord, Lunatic, Liar or Legend? discusses Jesus' controversial claims to being God and evaluates whether he could have been lying or mistaken.
3) The Miracles of Jesus defines miracles and examines the historical evidence for Jesus' miracles like raising Lazarus, using criteria like eyewitnesses and effects, to argue they show his divinity.
4) The Resurrection of Jesus is
1) The document is a summary of a sermon given at First Baptist Church discussing entering into God's rest through faith in Jesus Christ.
2) It warns that believers can experience unrest if they do not study the Bible and draw near to God, and encourages Christians to help each other in faith through encouragement.
3) Sin can deceive believers into thinking their lives are satisfactory to God when they are not fully trusting him, and continual sin can lead to a hardened heart that no longer responds to the gospel.
The document discusses evidence for the identity of Jesus Christ. It examines his claims to be the Messiah and Son of God, as well as prophecies about the Messiah from the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled. The document also considers Jesus' miracles and the strongest evidence for his resurrection, which is the empty tomb and eyewitness accounts from over 500 people. The resurrection is the most important fact because it validates Jesus' identity and provides hope of eternal life. Non-Christian sources like Josephus and Tacitus also corroborate the basic facts about Jesus. The document analyzes alternative theories for the resurrection but finds them inadequate. Overall, it argues the historical evidence points to Jesus being the promised Messiah.

The Word - The Science of Biblical Interpretation - Part 1Robin Schumacher
This presentation is the first part of a three part study of hermeneutics or the science of Biblical interpretation and focuses on the first step which is observation.
The document provides an overview of a sermon given at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi titled "Hope of New Life". The sermon discusses the biblical passage of Ezekiel 37:1-14, known as the vision of the valley of dry bones. In the vision, God asks Ezekiel if the dry bones can live, and through Ezekiel's prophesying, breath enters the bones and they come to life as a vast army. The sermon relates this prophecy to giving the people of Israel hope that they will return to their homeland after exile, and that only God can do the impossible. It then discusses how this prophecy applies to giving hope to those who feel they are in a "valley of dry bones" situation today
This document discusses 10 questions that are transforming Christian faith. The questions include: 1) What is the shape of the biblical narrative? 2) What is the Bible and how does it have authority? 3) Is God violent based on some biblical passages? 4) Who is Jesus and why does he matter? 5) Is the gospel a message of evacuation or transformation? 6) What do we do about the church? 7) Can issues of sexuality be addressed without division? 8) Can a more hopeful vision of the future be found? 9) How should other faiths be related to? 10) How can this quest be pursued in humility, love and peace? The document argues these questions can create new conversations and lead to transforming

This document discusses different perspectives on assurance of salvation. It includes:
1) The story of John Wesley struggling with assurance until he was certain of his salvation based on Christ's work.
2) Different categories of people - those who think they are saved but aren't, those who act like they aren't saved but think they are, etc.
3) Assurance comes from a believing relationship with Christ, not from visions or feelings of assurance that could be mistaken. Trusting what Scripture says about salvation through Christ is enough.
The document provides a summary of the biblical book of Ezekiel chapter 37, which contains Ezekiel's vision of the valley of dry bones. In the vision, God asks Ezekiel if the dry bones can live again, and commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones. As Ezekiel prophesies, the bones come together and are clothed with flesh and skin, but have no breath. God then commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath, and as he does so breath enters the bodies and they come alive as a vast army. God explains that the vision signifies his ability to restore the people of Israel to their homeland from exile, bringing new life where there seemed to be no hope. The document then discusses the concept of biblical hope and how
Isaiah 9:6-7 His name will be called or He would be known as counselor. He is a counselor who understands your struggles. He is a counselor who cares for you. He is a counselor who is committed to you.
This document discusses how Jesus Christ is central to the Old Testament through various means:
1) Messianic prophecies that foretell Jesus' coming.
2) References to the "Angel of the Lord" who displays both physical and divine attributes, suggesting he is a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus.
3) The use of the Hebrew word "Son" to refer to the second person of the Trinity, showing Jesus' role throughout the Old Testament as God's representative.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." This spiritual lesson takes this well-known verse and breaks it down into each phrase, so that we can dig deeper into the meaning of the Lord's words here.
Dr. John Oakes did a presentation at Kings College, London 6/12/14 on evidence that Jesus is who the Bible says he is. This is not brand new material, but it is the first time this combination of material about who Jesus is, about his miracles and his fulfillment of prophecy in one class, so I though I would post it.
Jesus was both fully God and fully man. As a man, he had a real human body and experienced human temptations and suffering. He took on human flesh through the virgin Mary, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit without a human father. This allowed him to live a sinless human life and sacrifice himself as the perfect human substitute for our sins. His virgin birth fulfilled prophecies and showed that God can do miraculous new things.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

3. THE GOSPEL IN THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS - ISAIAH 53
http://dss.collections.imj.org.il/isaiah
4. Who is this about?
Behold, my servant shall act wisely;
he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted.
As many were astonished at you—
his appearance was so marred,
beyond human semblance,
and his form
beyond that of the children of mankind
— so shall he sprinkle many nations;
kings shall shut their mouths because of him;
for that which has not been told them
they see,
and that which they have not heard
they understand.
(Isaiah 52:13-14)
5. Who is this about?
Who has believed what he has heard from us?
And to whom has the arm of the LORD been
revealed?
For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty
that we should look at him,
and no beauty
that we should desire him.
(Isaiah 53:1-2)
6. Who is this about?
"He was despised and rejected by men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
(Isaiah 53:3-8)
7. Who is this about?
"But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned--every one--to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. "
(Isaiah 53:3-8)
8. Who is this about?
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
and as for his generation,
who considered that he was
cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?"
(Isaiah 53:3-8)
9. Who is this about?
And they made his grave with the wicked
and with a rich man in his death,
although he had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.
(Isaiah 53:9-12)
10. Who is this about?
Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him;
he has put him to grief;
when his soul makes an offering for guilt,
he shall see his offspring;
he shall prolong his days;
the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Out of the anguish of his soul
he shall see and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall the righteous one,
my servant, make many to be accounted righteous,
and he shall bear their iniquities.
(Isaiah 53:9-12)
11. Who is this about?
Therefore
I will divide him a portion with the many,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
because he poured out his soul to death and was
numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
and makes intercession for the transgressors.
(Isaiah 53:9-12)

Is this Old Testament or New Testament?
○ Old Testament
When was Jesus born?
○ Approximately 1 BC
Who is this about? Who died for our sins?
○ Jesus Christ, who was crucified for us.
How do we know this prophecy is about Jesus?
○ See the fulfillment in Jesus as recorded in the NT gospels.
● Fulfilled prophecy is evidence for the gospel in the
Old Testament (confirmed by Dead Sea Scrolls).
14. What are the Dead Sea Scrolls?
● Ancient Manuscripts (Biblical and extrabiblical)
● Found by Bedouins between 1947-1956
● Caves of Qumran near the Dead Sea.
● Containing 38 of 39 Old Testament books
● The best preserved book "Great Isaiah Scroll"
● Writings predate the birth of Christ
15. Old Testament New Testament
Prophecy Fulfillment
Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:21-23
Isaiah 9:6-7 John 1:14, 3:16
Isaiah 53 Acts 8:32-35
Isaiah 61:1-2a Luke 4:14-22
There are hundreds of fulfilled prophecies.
Look for Jesus when you read the OT.
Look for the OT when you read the NT.
16. "So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the
prophet and asked, 'Do you understand what you are
reading?' 31 And he said, 'How can I, unless
someone guides me?' And he invited Philip to come up
and sit with him. 32 Now the passage of the Scripture
that he was reading was this: 'Like a sheep he was
led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its
shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth. 33 In
his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can
describe his generation? For his life is taken away
from the earth.' 34 And the eunuch said to Philip,
'About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this,
about himself or about someone else?' 35 Then Philip
opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he
told him the good news about Jesus. (Acts 8:30-35)
17. WHY APOLOGETICS
IS IMPORTANT
We are living in times that are
more secular, unbelieving and
skeptical. They may declare that
the Bible has been changed. We
declare that it hasn't changed.
Some valid questions:
● How do you know that?
● Why should I believe that?
● Do you have any evidence?
We are called:
1. to declare the Gospel
Picture: My sister promoting 2. to defend the Gospel with
her atheistic worldview.
reasons why we believe it.
18. When should we give a defense for the gospel?
Christian: Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells
me so. (John 3:16)
Skeptic: Good for you. I don't believe in that.
Christian: Jesus said, "Believe the Gospel" & "all who
believe will be saved." (Mark 1:15, 16:16)
Skeptic: Why should I believe that?
Christian: Because the Bible says so.
Skeptic: How do you know that to be true?
Christian: It's God's word. God can't lie. (Heb. 6:18)
Skeptic: How do you know that it's God's word?
Christian: The Bible says "All Scripture is inspired..."
Skeptic: Do you have any evidence that what you are
declaring is actually, reliably and verifiably true?
(Here we should start defending our declarations.)
Christian: YES! And I can show you...
19. BE READY TO
GIVE REASONS
WITH RESPECT
1 Peter 3:15
"but in your hearts honor
Christ the Lord as holy,
always being prepared to
make a defense to anyone
who asks you for a reason for
the hope that is in you; yet do it
with gentleness and respect"
20. When there are competing claims,
how do we know who is right?
● Mormons: I prayed about the book of Mormon
and the Spirit told me it's true, the Bible is not.
● Muslims: The Quran is true, the Bible is corrupt.
● Christians: The Bible is true, it hasn't changed
and we have evidence to support that.
We all have different "scriptures" that we are
leaning upon for our authority. But the question is:
"Who has the best evidence to show that our
scriptures are in fact the word of God?"
If it's objectivly true, if it's absolutly true, then there
should be other forms of evidence to support it.

If it's objectively, absolutely true, then there can be objective
evidence that supports it. There is evidence to prove the truth of
the Biblical Gospel. I'll show you and you can show this to
unbelievers.

accuracy of the Biblical scroll,

CONTENT of the scrolls:

knows/plans/controls the future,
then He can accurately tell us what
is going to happen according to His

35. EVIDENCE FOR THE
SUPERNATURAL CLAIMS
OF THE BIBLE:
ANCIENT PROPHECIES
IN THE SCROLLS HAVE
BEEN FULFILLED IN
JESUS CHRIST.
36. Pay attention to "the prophetic word
made more sure"
2 Peter 1:19-21 NASB
19 So we have the prophetic word made more
sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a
lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns
and the morning star arises in your hearts.
20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of
Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation,
21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of
human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke
from God.
37. The "the prophetic word made more
sure word"
Isaiah 44:7 Who is like Me? Let him
proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him
recount it to Me in order ... And let them
declare to them the things that are
coming And the events that are going
to take place.
38. THE PROBLEM: SIN
- God's law is holy, just & good.
- Breaking God's law is sin.
- Adam and Eve sinned & died.
- All have sinned & fall short of glory.
- You have sinned against God.
- Result of sin is separation from
God, physical & spiritual death.
- Sinners cannot save themselves.
Who can save from sin & death?
39. The Gospel preached in the Old Testament
Protoevangelion
The Gospel was first foretold by God to Satan after the fall:
"I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and her Offspring (seed);
He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel."
Genesis 3:15
1. God promised a special Seed of the woman (protagonist).
2. Satan and his followers (antagonists) will oppose the Seed
3. The Seed will be pierced through his heel (die on the cross)
4. The Seed will crush Satan's head (triumph at the cross)
Who would the promised one be?
40. The "more sure word of prophecy"
Ezekiel 33:33 "So when it comes to pass--as
surely it will--then they will know that a prophet
has been in their midst."
John 13:19 "From now on I am telling you
before it comes to pass, so that when it does
occur, you may believe that I am He."
41. Isaiah 42:1-9 NASB
1 "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My
soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice
to the nations. 2 "He will not cry out or raise His voice, Nor make His
voice heard in the street. 3 "A bruised reed He will not break And a
dimly burning wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth
justice. 4 "He will not be disheartened or crushed Until He has
established justice in the earth; And the coast lands will wait
expectantly for His law."
5 Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched
them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath
to the people on it And spirit to those who walk in it,
6 "I am the LORD, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold
You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a
covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, 7 To open blind eyes,
To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in
darkness from the prison.
8 "I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another,
Nor My praise to graven images. 9 "Behold, the former things have
come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I
proclaim them to you."
42. Conclusion: Can we trust Him?
YES, WE CAN!
Why? Because God has given us "the more sure
word of prophecy" concerning the Messiah/Christ.
Gen 3:15 (4000 BC) Satan "will bruise His heel"
Psalm 22: (1000 BC) "pierced hands and feet"
Isaiah 53 (700 BC) "bruised for our iniquities"
DSS Copies (100 BC) unchanged, speaks of Jesus.
300+ Prophecies fulfilled in Christ's 1st coming.
500+ witnesses (30AD) Christ crucified, resurrected.
The Promised one is none other than Jesus Christ.
He lived a sinless life, taught the truth, healed the
sick, died for our sins and rose from the dead.
This evidence gives us good reason to believe in the
Bible's good news about Jesus. Will you trust Him?
43. "You will find that in answers to questions,
the biggest danger is to get so cerebral,
that you forget the source of the answers.
Sometimes a relationship with Christ is far
greater than any cerebral answer you can give
to a question.
...
Apologetics is the seasoning,
the gospel is the main course.
You do not want too much seasoning
or it will make the main course insipid."
- Ravi Zacharias
