The GFCC Competitiveness Decoder
The "GFCC Competitiveness Decoder" is the 1st-ever, 21st Century tool aiming at "decoding the DNA" of competitiveness, and helping the international business and economic development communities to understand better the phenomena of growth and development. The Competitiveness Decoder is the result of a joint effort carried out by the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI - www.abdi.com.br) and the US Council on Competitiveness (www.compete.org). The Observatory for Innovation and Competitiveness (http://www.observatoriousp.pro.br/) at the University of São Paulo (USP) contributed support to this project with a research team.
The decoder is live at decoder.thegfcc.org. We encourage all those interested in productivity, prosperity, economic growth and competitiveness to visit the Decoder site, experience the tool, and provide feedback.
Third board meeting
The board meeting covered highlights from each team member's location, including advantages of different startup ecosystems. Key challenges were discussed around team building, branding, and software intellectual property. Action items from the previous meeting on these topics were reviewed. The board deliberated on next steps to resolve challenges by focusing on team culture, finalizing the logo and positioning, and selecting appropriate technologies. The next board meeting was scheduled.

DevOps provides the ability to increase time to market to an new level. The question is no longer if we need to speed up our delivery. The challenge is to find the right „pace“ for your product. Not every organization and every product needs to run at the speed of Netflix and Spotify, even if we’d like it to be like this. We need to adjust the organization, processes and tools appropriatly and to identify the real bottlenecks in the delivery pipeline continuously. And by the way, we need to justify our investment in the DevOps mission. Are we just automating the current processes or can we use this DevOps thing to really support our business? In this talk, I’d like to discuss with you how to find the right design for your delivery process and your organization to behave as a business enabler and how you can scale DevOps within your organization without loosing agility. Let’s explore how we can listen carefully to the unknown customer out there and to build software they really like in the speed of your business.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
