This document provides instructions and materials for a science class. Students are asked to bring specific supplies like pencils and their textbook. The document lists assignments that are due, including tests, notes, and star cards. It provides examples and instructions for drawing Bohr models and Lewis dot diagrams of elements, including lithium and oxygen. Students are asked to compare the Bohr model to the modern atomic theory, listing similarities and differences. They are to review questions 1 through 15 using their notes and turn in the completed work the next day along with star cards that are due two days later.
Graffiti is discussed as both an ancient form of expression but also modern art, though the author notes it is illegal and can incur fines and criminal charges if caught tagging property without permission. While some see graffiti as ruining cities, others view it as a way to express beauty, but the document strongly advises against engaging in illegal graffiti due to legal consequences.

1. The document discusses the key concepts of scientific research, including deductive and inductive reasoning. It provides examples to illustrate the differences between the two types of reasoning.
2. Scientific research is defined as a systematic process of determining, acquiring, analyzing, and disseminating empirical data and insights to help decision makers maximize business performance.
3. While deductive reasoning allows determining if conclusions follow logically from premises, inductive reasoning involves using specific observations to derive general conclusions, though these cannot be proven with absolute certainty. Popper argued theories should be falsifiable and have predictive power.

Implementing transparency and open government projects in GreeceMichael Psallidas
This document discusses challenges and opportunities for implementing transparency and open government projects in Greece. It outlines past open government projects in Greece from 2009-2012 that focused on proof of concepts, skills development, interoperability, and open standards. Current demands for transparency stem from the economic crisis. The Transparency Program aims to establish a new relationship between citizens and government based on accountability. It promotes open data through a multichannel platform and encourages third parties to create applications. Challenges include overcoming issues within institutions and culture, bridging access gaps, and adopting diverse technical solutions. Opportunities exist for both public and private sectors to improve governance and gain business value through openness, feedback, and knowledge-based applications.

Jeremy struggles with his identity and self-esteem due to his parents making him feel like an internal failure. This leads him to act out in class and exhibit problems that lower his teacher's expectations of him, further damaging his self-belief. To break this cycle, his teachers need to give him opportunities to develop his identity and a sense of self, such as listening to others and realizing his problems are not unique. Allowing Jeremy to interact socially and try different roles may help him achieve an identity he feels comfortable with.

A boy asks his mother why she cries. She says it is because she is a woman. When he grows up, he asks God why women cry so easily. God answers that he gave women strength to bear the weight of the world, love their children unconditionally, and endure their husbands' faults. God also gave women tears so they can shed them whenever needed. The beauty of a woman resides not in her appearance but in her eyes, which are the door to her heart.

Independent Study - College of Wooster Research (2023-2024) FDI, Culture, Glo...AntoniaOwensDetwiler
"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.
OJP data from firms like Vicinity Jobs have emerged as a complement to traditional sources of labour demand data, such as the Job Vacancy and Wages Survey (JVWS). Ibrahim Abuallail, PhD Candidate, University of Ottawa, presented research relating to bias in OJPs and a proposed approach to effectively adjust OJP data to complement existing official data (such as from the JVWS) and improve the measurement of labour demand.
