The document discusses Paul's letter to the Galatians about the true gospel versus a false gospel. It summarizes that the original promise God made to Abraham pointed solely to Jesus Christ. While the law of Moses was given later due to human disobedience, it did not invalidate the promise of righteousness through faith. The law's purpose was to act as a guardian until Christ, as it could not transform people or make them righteous on its own. Through faith in Christ, all people regardless of background can become children of God and heirs to his promise.

This PowerPoint and Image Pack offers a visual meditation on Galatians 3. Paul argues that we are all part of God's family because we share in the faith of Abraham.
Galatians 3 | Children of Abraham and SarahSteve Thomason
This lecture on Galatians comes from a six-week course on Galatians. The Apostle Paul is frustrated with his friends in Galatia because they are being convinced by a group of people that they must first become Jewish before they can truly follow Jesus. Paul continues his argument in chapter 3 of this letter by recounting the story of Abraham and Sarah. They were justified simply by trusting God's promise, long before circumcision or the Law of Moses was ever part of the equation.
This is a collection of some of the best writings on the topic of the Holy Spirit and adoption whereby God adopts believers into His family as His children.
This is a study of Jesus issuing a host of commands. He said that if people loved Him they would keep His commands. He gave many for us to obey to show our love for Him.

The rebirth experience marks the beginning of the Christian life and a new, living connection to Christ. From Bondage to Freedom is an effective aid in obtaining this experience. It clearly shows just what we can expect from God and how we can cooperate with Him in forming a Christ-like character. For those who are struggling with problems in their own life which they seem unable to overcome, as well as for those who have come to accept their character defects, this booklet will prove to be an eye-opener. The editor tells of his own experience and invites the reader to take God at His word and experience the power of the gospel.
in Galatians chapter 3 Paul contrasts salvation under the Law of Moses with the salvation we have through Jesus. Galatians 3:22-29 is full of truths regarding our true position as sons of our loving Father. We will look at 8 things which our faith in Christ will cause us to become.
In Galatians 3:15-29 Paul continues to contrast Law and Grace. The message of Grace is emphasized as the message of God’s promise to Abraham. But this contrast introduces a challenge. Is the Law bad? And if the Law is bad, then why did God give the Mosaic Law? Paul will point out that there were positive reasons for the Law. The Law had an intended purpose to tutor us and prepare our hearts to receive the promise of grace through faith. God intended the Law to be an intermediary step in our spiritual development, but the Judaizers and the Pharisees shared in common an “arrested development.” They failed to progress towards grace. This can be a challenge for us as well. We can become so enamored with the do’s and don’ts of religion that we miss the message of grace. As coheirs of God’s promise, the many distinctions of life such as the distinctions between Jew and Gentile, Slave and Free, Male and Female are subordinated to our shared identity as coheirs with Christ. In Christ the ancient prejudices fall for we are all co-laborers together.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
3. GALATIANS 3:15-29
15 Let me use a human metaphor to explain
what I am saying: When people enter into legal
contracts, once both parties agree and sign their
signature the contract cannot be cancelled or
added to. 16 Now when God entered into a
covenant agreement with Abraham the
‘contract’ did not use the words ‘and to your
descendants’ as if it were referring to many
people. It used the word– “descendant,”
referring to a single person. The person it
referred to was Christ.
4. GALATIANS 3:15-29
17A legally binding covenant was established by
God. When the law of Moses was given four
hundred and thirty years later, that addition
does not invalidate the original covenant and its
promises. 18 It doesn’t mean that the original
promises have been set aside and we are now to
receive what God wants to give us as a reward
for keeping religious regulations instead of the
way it worked with Abraham – by trusting what
God has promised.
5. GALATIANS 3:15-29
19What, then, was the reason for the law of
Moses? The law was added to the original
covenant with Abraham because of human
disobedience. It gave protection to people until
the coming of Christ, the promised descendant.
The law was given by means of angelic
messengers and by the hand of a mediator,
Moses. 20 Generally a mediator represents two
different parties, but in this case the mediator
only represented one party, that being God.
6. GALATIANS 3:15-29
21Isthe giving of the law opposed to the idea of
receiving from God by trusting what he has
promised? Definitely not. The fact is, if a law
could be given that could transform someone’s
heart then all we would need in order to be
righteous would be the law and nothing else. 22
But the Bible tells us that the whole world is
locked up in sin and therefore the whole world
needs the opportunity to receive righteousness
as a gift from God on the basis of their faith.
7. GALATIANS 3:15-29
23Before the coming of faith in Christ we were
shut in a prison. The law told us we were
sinners but couldn’t do anything to set us free.
It was anticipating the revelation of faith in
Christ. 24 The law was like a childminder looking
after us until Christ came. We could then be
made righteous by the gift of God given on the
basis of believing God’s promise.25Because
Christ has come we no longer need a
childminder.
8. HUMAN CONTRACTS –
an illustration of the principle
15Letme use a human
metaphor to explain what
I am saying: When people

and sign their signature
the contract cannot be
cancelled or added to.
9. THE CONTRACT REFERS TO A SINGLE PERSON

to your descendants’ as if it

11. MOSES vs. ABRAHAM
17 A legally binding covenant was
established by God. When the

the original covenant and its

15. WHAT THE LAW CAN’T DO !!!!!!!!!
21Is the giving of the law opposed
to the idea of receiving from God
by trusting what he has
promised? Definitely not. The
fact is, if a law could be given that
could transform someone’s heart
then all we would need in order

and nothing else. 22 But the Bible
tells us that the whole world is
locked up in sin and therefore the
whole world needs the
opportunity to receive
righteousness as a gift from God
on the basis of their faith.
16. THE LAW
CAN’T MAKE
ANYONE
RIGHTEOUS
Trying to become ‘gooder’ is just a recipe for frustration –
you will either become disenchanted or self righteous –
either way its bad for business.
17. THE LAW WAS THE SCHOOLTEACHER
23Before the coming of faith in
Christ we were shut in a
prison. The law told us we
were sinners but couldn’t do
anything to set us free. It was
anticipating the revelation of
faith in Christ. 24 The law was

26Allof us have become children of God by
believing what God has promised through Jesus
Christ. 27 Now that faith in Christ has come,
everyone who is baptized has become clothed
with Christ. 28 There is no distinction in all of
this. Everyone receives on the same basis –
Jews and Greeks, slaves and free citizens, men
and women. We all receive the same thing and
are unified in Christ Jesus.
23. GALATIANS 3:15-29
29Ifyou belong to Christ in this way, then, no
matter what your ethnic or social background,
you are all descendants of Abraham. Like him
you have become heirs because of the promise
of God.
24. KNOW THE REAL GOSPEL BY WHAT IT DOES
1. It fulfills the promise made from the beginning.
2. It only works when you trust what God to do what he
promised.
3. It does by supernatural power what the best laws can
never do.
4. It transforms a person from the inside out (heart first-
actions second)
5. It produces righteousness within someone.
6. It points us to Jesus Christ.
7. It treats all of us the same.
8. It is accessible to everyone.
