This document discusses the differences between religion, law, and grace. It argues that Jesus and grace are better than trying to please God through works or obedience to law. Several passages from Galatians are cited that say people cannot be made right with God by obeying the law, but rather through faith. The law was meant to teach people until they had faith, but once they have faith the law is no longer needed. All people are God's children because of faith in Christ, not works or obedience to law.
Christian freedom is not about what the government can give or take away, but what we have in Jesus. In Jesus we have not only forgiveness of sin, but have been given the power to not be dominated by that sin. We have been freed from sin to live freely for God.

Galatians 3 | Children of Abraham and SarahSteve Thomason
This lecture on Galatians comes from a six-week course on Galatians. The Apostle Paul is frustrated with his friends in Galatia because they are being convinced by a group of people that they must first become Jewish before they can truly follow Jesus. Paul continues his argument in chapter 3 of this letter by recounting the story of Abraham and Sarah. They were justified simply by trusting God's promise, long before circumcision or the Law of Moses was ever part of the equation.

This lesson discusses how legalism steals the riches we have in Christ Jesus. Legalism cannot add anything to your faith because it permeates and damages every aspect. Legalism will not make you more spiritual. God's grace is sufficient for every demand of life.
The Law of God is eternal. The law of God existed before the children of Israel came to Mount Sinai. Prior to that time, it was a spoken word that was taught from father to son. But, from the time of Moses it was a written word, so holy and pure that God did not allow Moses to write it. He wrote it himself on two tables of stone.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Renewed in Grace
6. Does trusting 100%
in God’s grace and
mercy mean that
Christians are free to
live however they
choose, without
fearing that God
might reject them?
7. GALATIANS 3:10 Anyone who tries to please God by
obeying the Law is under a curse. The Scriptures say,
“Everyone who doesn’t obey everything in the Law is
under a curse.” 11 No one can please God by obeying
the Law. The Scriptures also say, “The people God
accepts because of their faith will live.”
8. GALATIANS 3:12 The Law isn’t based on faith. It
promises life only to people who obey its commands.
13 But Christ rescued us from the Law’s curse, when
he became a curse in our place. This is because the
Scriptures say that anyone who is nailed to a tree is under
a curse.
9. GALATIANS 3:23 The Law controlled us and kept us
under its power until the time came when we would have
faith. 24 In fact, the Law was our teacher. It was supposed
to teach us until we had faith and were acceptable to God.
25 But once a person has learned to have faith, there
is no more need to have the Law as a teacher.
10. GALATIANS 3:26 All of you are God’s
children because of your faith in
Christ Jesus.
16. Psalm 19:7 The law of the
Lord is perfect, refreshing
the soul. The statutes of
the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord
are right, giving joy to the
heart. The commands of
the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
17. Psalm 19:10 They are
more precious than gold,
than much pure gold; they
are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the
honeycomb.
11 By them your servant
is warned; in keeping
them there is great
reward.
