The Directors Guild of America (DGA) released a report analyzing 4,300 television episodes from the 2018/2019 season, finding that 58% of episodes had either a female director or a director of color, marking a significant increase from the previous season. The report showed that 31% of episodes were directed by women, up from 25% the prior year, and 27% were directed by individuals of color, up from 24% previously. The DGA is dedicated to protecting directors' rights and furthering their careers through studies of industry trends.
