United Nations system.
• It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters,
shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards,
articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical
support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

• The ‘WHO’ run a variety of programmes such as leprosy elimination,
food safety, and dengue check-ups.
• They hope that these actions will help to benefit those who are in
need of desperate aid.

4. History of WHO
• When diplomats met to form the United Nations in 1945, one of the
things they discussed was setting up a global health organization
• WHO’s Constitution came into force on 7 April 1948 – a date we now
celebrate every year as World Health Day

• WHO's help has contributed to a 40% fall in the number of deaths
from tuberculosis between 1990 and 2010
