The Conjuring is a 2013 supernatural horror film directed by James Wan, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Called to help the Perron family who are experiencing disturbing events in their Rhode Island farmhouse in 1971, the Warrens investigate cases of hauntings and were inspired by the Amityville Horror. James Wan is a successful film director known for directing horror films like Saw and creating Billy the puppet, and also directed The Conjuring along with Insidious and its sequel.
