The Central Ohio Legacy Fund aims to provide funding for Christian ministries in central Ohio by leveraging life insurance policies. Donors can donate existing policies or purchase new ones, with premiums becoming tax deductible. All agent compensation from policies will be donated to the fund. Over 20 years, the fund projects raising $52.5 million total if 100 donors each contribute a $1 million, 20-year term life insurance policy. The fund will support ministries through grants and help activate donors' philanthropic goals.

Planned Giving Opportunities with the Upcoming Transfer of Wealth (Pt. 1/2)West Muse
Studies show that $9 trillion in assets will be passed in the U.S. from Baby Boomers to Gen X and millennials by 2027. It is imperative that fundraisers plan thoughtfully for this transfer of wealth because great opportunity exists to secure planned gifts. While many nonprofits focus on immediate funding needs, museums are in a unique position, responsible for long-term institutional preservation and collections care. It is not only prudent but necessary to develop sustainable revenue.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Funding Kingdom Ministries
OUR MISSION
To fund central Ohio Kingdom ministries with a “for profit” agency model using
life insurance as the financial funding catalyst so that ministries can focus on
their true kingdom purpose; sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
VISION STATEMENT
To release and ignite Kingdom funding opportunities and initiatives for central
Ohio Christian mission organizations by providing long term and short term
working capital via a life insurance financial donor funding model.
LEGACY FUND PURPOSE
As Christians we are challenged by God with the responsibility to fund His
Kingdom. Being good stewards of our God-given resources is extremely
important to growing the Kingdom. Currently 84% of Columbus, Ohio is
unchurched. 95% of all 25 to 35 year olds are unchurched.
The majority of Kingdom ministries struggle with raising funds, which is a huge
barrier to executing their true purpose of sharing the love of Jesus Christ
through evangelism, discipleship, and micro-entrepreneur economic
systems. Columbus Kingdom ministries are under-served and under-
funded in their movement to transform Columbus for Kingdom
advancement. Most ministries are funded on a short-term basis and
would like to do more but are restricted by not having enough financial
resources.
The purpose of Central Ohio Legacy Fund is to leverage all agent life
insurance compensations, death benefits and secondary market sell off
proceeds to contribute to the funding of God’s Kingdom for central Ohio
Christian ministries through God-centered giving. The Central Ohio Legacy
Fund associated insurance agency, National Christian Insurance Agency, Inc.
will educate prospective members about philanthropy and planned giving via
leveraging life insurance benefits.
The fund will provide Christian ministries an additional financial giving model
for donor fundraising, which will also provide added value to their donor base.
This will assist donors in accomplishing additional generous giving objectives
for the kingdom to accomplish their personal and business philanthropic
objectives.

LEGACY FUND HISTORY
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund is the brain child of Tom Aakhus and Dick Williams, who
have worked in the life insurance business for a combined 91 years. Tom often asked
Kingdom-minded clients, "If this glass of water was presented as representing $1 million
and you had to communicate with your family where you wanted it given, where would it
go if the option to give to the family was taken away?” From those discussions they came
up with an insurance model to empower mission organizations with financial resources.
When asked about this life insurance legacy giving model, he found that the vast majority
of people hadn’t given much thought to planned giving upon death or other monetary
giving options during their life. But most people had a heart as to where they would like
new found monies to go. So Tom and Dick refined the planned giving model and produced
a financial vehicle to fund kingdom ministries through renewable term life insurance and
other industry insurance products.
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund will empower Kingdom-minded people
to activate their Kingdom philanthropic and planned giving heart.
The goal and sole purpose of the Central Ohio Legacy Fund is to promote God’s Kingdom by helping to
fund central Ohio ministries to reach as far and wide as possible.

THE CENTRAL OHIO LEGACY FUND
TRANSACTION STRUCTURE
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund is supported by the “For Profit” Life Insurance
Agency Model, which will use a re-directed spending concept. The life insurance
premiums and compensations from a donor’s purchase of life insurance
products are “redirected” to the Central Ohio Legacy Donor Advisory Fund that
is housed inside The National Christian Foundation. www.NationalChristian.com.
The National Christian Foundation acts as a vetting resource of legitimate
Christian ministries and becomes the donor’s investment advisor for all monies
given to the Central Ohio Legacy Fund. Sophisticated donors can move their
current Donor Advisory Fund under the NCF umbrella but still allow their current
financial advisor to manage their portfolio.

THE “FOR PROFIT” KINGDOM AGENCY MODEL
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund will establish
a Kingdom contractual relationship with an
insurance agency, National Christian
Insurance Agency, Inc., an Ohio corporation,
which will serve as a vehicle to write
insurance business and receive
compensation.
All compensation earned by National
Christian Insurance Agency, Inc. will be
donated to the Central Ohio Legacy Fund.
The Central Ohio Giving Fund will establish a
“Donor Advisory Fund” under the umbrella of
The National Christian Foundation (NCF).
NCF will own 90% of the interests (non-
voting) and Thomas Aakhus will own 10% of
the interests (voting) of the Central Ohio
Legacy Fund.
Thomas Aakhus will have responsibility for
managing the day to day operations of the
agency.
Initially, the main products offered by National
Christian Insurance Agency, Inc. will be term and
permanent life insurance. Other products, like
Disability Income and Long Term Care
insurance, will come online as timing and
demand dictate.
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund will establish a
Board of Central Ohio Advisors. The Agency will
work with supporting Kingdom-minded donors
and business owners and organizations such as
non-profits, CPAs, financial planners, insurance
agencies, and attorneys to promote this
innovative giving model.
SIMPLY HOW IT WORKS
It is a very simple life insurance transaction and does not necessarily cost donors
additional disposable income. Donors can direct the Central Ohio Legacy Fund
insurance agency to shop insurance carriers for their existing policy with the goal of
reducing premiums. Donors can change beneficiaries or owners, and/or whoever is
insured with their existing life insurance policies. Donors can also purchase additional
policies for long-term legacy planned giving.
Other opportunities for creating funds are using long-term policy transactions. For
instance, at age 65 there would be an opportunity to do a Life Settlement Option that
could bring as much as $200,000 (20% of face amount) on average per $1 million policy
by selling the policy to the secondary life insurance market. The current policy holder
would then re-direct the proceeds to central Ohio Kingdom ministries. The agent’s life
insurance compensation for this secondary market transaction would also be donated to
designated central Ohio ministries.
6. Page | 5
Central Ohio Legacy Fund
Funding Kingdom Ministries
The above life insurance transactions trigger agent compensation that is equal to
approximately the first year’s premium. Secular insurance agents use the
commission for salary and benefits, but in the “For Profit” Kingdom Agency Model
all of the compensation is passed through to the Central Ohio Legacy Fund.
There are also additional life insurance transaction benefits available. Because your
yearly life insurance premium is paid through a Charitable Donor Advisory Fund
(The Central Ohio Legacy Fund, housed under the National Christian Foundation),
it becomes tax deductible at the donor’s current tax rate.
The Central Ohio Legacy Fund is set up as a Donor Advisory Fund inside The
National Christian Foundation. National Christian Insurance Agency, Inc. will help
guide you in setting up your own Donor Advised Fund or in using the Central Ohio
Legacy Fund currently set up through National Christian Foundation.

HOW DO I BECOME PART OF SOMETHING BIG?
1. Make a cash donation to the Central Ohio Legacy Fund to support administrative overhead.
2. Donors can also change/add beneficiaries or owners, and/or who is insured with their existing
life insurance policies.
3. They can also direct National Christian Insurance Agency, Inc. to shop insurance carriers for
their existing policy with the goal of reducing premiums. The National Christian Insurance
Agency’s compensation would be donated to a Kingdom ministry.
4. Allow the Fund to purchase a new policy on your life, payable to the Central Ohio Giving Fund,
using the first year’s agent compensation as a donation.
5. Other opportunities for creating funds are using long-term policy transactions like renewing the
policy after its term, keeping some of the death benefit amount and selling the rest of the death
benefit policy to a secondary market source (who will give 10% to 50% of face value of the
remaining death benefit). The current policy holder can then re-direct the secondary market
proceeds to kingdom ministries of their choice through the Central Ohio Legacy Fund and
allow the secondary market to pay the premium.
