1. The Best in Music
Music is international, people around the world listen to and love music. Music is listened to in
many different: cultures, religions, and languages, it’s universal. There are three different artists
whom come to mind when I think of music.
Beyoncé Knowles is an iconic songstress in today’s music. She is one of the most notable artists
of our time and she is my personal favorite of all. She is known all over the world for her
beautiful melodies and her signature song “Single Ladies.” Beyoncé originally started off in a
group but later ventured to a solo career. She has not only accomplished the singing industry, but
she has also done a lot of acting and has made her mark in the acting industry as well. Beyoncé
feels her most amazing moment in her singing career was performing “At Last” for President
Obama and his wife Michelle Obama at the inaugural ball. I can listen to her music all day and
never get tired of it. Out of her countless songs my favorite song from her is a song called “I was
Here” Beyoncé said that the song was written inspired by the victims who lost their lives during
the attack on 9-11. The song talks about a person living their life to the fullest and leaving their
mark on the world before they pass on. My favorite verse of the song is when she sings “I want
to say I lived each day, until I die and know that I meant something in, somebody’s life.”
Beyoncé’s has always and will always be my favorite artist, but r&b and pop are not the only
type of music I listen to.
Not all people understand or even like rap but for me it’s always on my radio and I pod. Drake is
a rapper whose music is amazing to me and it makes a lot of sense to me. I listen to a lot of other
rappers music but I am mostly listening to Drake because to me he is the best. Most people don’t
like rap because of the bad language used or because the overall message in the songs. The

2. reason he is my favorite is because he not only raps in his music but he also sings a lot. He has
some slower songs which I like because I tend to like slower songs, from any artist, because the
slower songs usually have more meaning. Some people call him “soft” because of his singing
and his slower music, but that is what makes me love and respect him so much as a musician.
Unlike Beyoncé, I was fortunate to have seen Drake in concert and it was an extremely
memorable night. Drake’s music is very different than that of my final artist.
Michael Jackson is one of the most recognized and favored musicians in the world. The reactions
that he received from his fans was incredible, and it shows how much people loved and praised
him is an artist. Other musicians recognize him as being if not the best, but one of the best
musicians to ever; open their mouth, get on the stage, and blow the crowd away with their
singing and dancing skills. I consider him the best because the way he could entertain was
phenomenal. Even though most of his music was created before my time I still listen, sing and
enjoy his countless number of songs. When I watch Michael’s videos I am always amazed by the
way he danced and I am amazed by how he has inspired so many other individuals to want to
portray his skills. Even when I play the Michael Jackson dance game it is extremely difficult for
me to do many of his moves. When listening to his music it gives many people the urge to want
to just get up and start dancing. Even though Michael Jackson has passed, his music will live on
forever.
I often consider music to be my escape from everything and everybody. These three amazing
artist play a major and important role when I need to escape. Their music is a part of my
everyday life whether I am singing, dancing, or just listening. Music in general helps me to cope
with different emotions whether it is mad, sad or even happy. Music not only helps me but it also
helps many people from every religion, nationality, and culture.
