OSGi Community Event 2017 Presentation by Emanoel Xavier (Intel) and Tim Ward (Paremus)
Open Security Controller (OSC) aims to increase the security of workloads running in cloud and data centers by orchestrating security virtual network functions (VNFs). To achieve that, one of the main design goals of OSC is to allow vendor customization while keeping its core code neutral. Additionally, as an open source project, another import design principal for OSC is code habitability. Evolving from a legacy monolithic application to a modularized one through OSGi has enabled OSC to implement these goals.
Bringing together a diverse group of security services and software defined network (SDN) providers was key to building the OSC community. This was possible due to the OSC plugin model using OSGi which allows specific vendors to integrate OSC with their existing solutions with minimum effort. Beyond its plugin model OSC also makes use of OSGi in its core components. This enables better extensibility, testability and overall maintainability of its code base. These aspects are key to OSC as it relates to the new and dynamic areas of SDN and security VNFs in cloud and data center environments and it must be able to easily adapt to the constantly changing requirements and technologies pertaining these fields.
In this talk we will explore the journey for turning OSC into a modularized application using OSGi, highlighting some of the achieved results, key learned lessons and the next steps for this work.

In the past decades, many factors have been continuously increasing like the functionality of embedded systems as well as the time-to-market pressure has been continuously increasing. Simulation of an entire system including both hardware and software from early design stages is one of the effective approaches to improve the design productivity. A large number of research efforts on hardware/software (HW/SW) co-simulation have been made so far. Real-time operating systems have become one of the important components in the embedded systems. However, in order to validate function of the entire system, this system has to be simulated together with application software and hardware. Indeed, traditional methods of verification have proven to be insufficient for complex digital systems. Register transfer level test-benches have become too complex to manage and too slow to execute. New methods and verification techniques began to emerge over the past few years. Highlevel test-benches, assertion-based verification, formal methods, hardware verification languages are just a few examples of the intense research activities driving the verification domain.

ALMOsT.js: an Agile Model to Model and Model to Text Transformation FrameworkCarlo Bernaschina
Model Driven Development (MDD) requires model-to-model and/or model-to-text transformations to produce application code from high level descriptions.
Creating such transformations is in itself a complex task, which requires mastering meta-modeling, ad hoc transformation languages, and custom development tools.
This paper presents ALMOsT.js, an agile, in-browser framework for the rapid prototyping of MDD transformations, which lowers the technical skills required for Web and mobile developers to start be proficient with modeling and code generation. ALMOsT.js is shown at work in the creation of IFMLedit.org, a browser-based, online/offline environment for the MDD specification and rapid prototyping of web and mobile applications.

Giant ensembles of intellectual agents with artificial consciousness and intelligence are able, for the results set by the person necessary for him, to find solutions for their obtaining on the basis of professional competence and experience accumulation. The professional competence of artificial intelligence is the ability to use technologies, including computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition and synthesis, intelligent decision support, as well as the use of synergistic methods, functional self-organizing methods and utility and preference criteria. For artificial intelligence, the functional organization of the system is important. The functionalism of artificial intelligence does not depend on its carrier, allows many methods of its functional implementation, as well as to form the completeness of its functions. Giant ensembles of intellectual agents with a full set of functions gradually and flexibly form events into solutions or rational behavior to obtain a given necessary result. Intelligent artificial intelligence has psychological, analytical, research, language, professional and behavioral hybrid competencies. Each competence is exercised by an intelligent agent with a competent functional professional manner. Intelligent agents form an ensemble with intelligent ethical artificial intelligence. The article is devoted to functional harmonious selforganization of ensembles of intellectual agents.Functional harmonious self-organization of the interaction of intellectual agents in different environments is carried out via wireless and mobile networks on the basis of data of a specific environment obtained by analytical competent intellectual agents. As result of research, the law of the golden section of the functional harmonious self-organization of ensembles of intellectual agents was revealed. Further research will focus on the effective use of wireless and mobile networks in the practical application of smart agent ensembles.

This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
