Mis hermanos Cubanos me dicen que…
Today is April Fool’s Day, an appropriate day to send you this issue of TBP.
We are gearing up for a turbulent city election in Bonita Springs –an historic moment where 5 seats may open at one time:
Mayor, District 2, District 4 and District 6 and a possible surprise in District 1.
The ponies are restless, reaching out for issues to sway your vote. I keep track of incumbents’ voting records and I
interview the new colts. They will be filing at Bonita Springs City Hall during April 2015.
‘Fools Rush In’
I can’t wait to see their campaign rhetoric and match to interviews held long before April 2015. I’ll also match it against
their voting records, their performance of duty in representing the majority votes of council, the will of the electorate and
attitude toward our preservation of our water/land preservation and overdevelopment.
Just how involved have they been in our needs and issues? How well-read are they? Do they read at all? Can they
comprehend? Have they attended all meetings and sub-committee meetings?
I attend, comprehend and deduce. I associate with similar minds. I have a trustworthy issue-oriented ‘kitchen cabinet’. I
recognize they are all brighter than me. We set aside our egos, income disparity, education and dislikes. Instead we focus
on intellect, analytical skills and willing to selflessly serve. Ergo, the Bananas win every time.
‘Chapter and Verse’
I am going to publish historical data which I have collected for 16 years since we became a city documenting lies and
deceptions. The momentous destruction of Calusa Indian Archeological digs and findings on Snarkage Road, the hush-up
of the archeological site in Bonita Bay where the community pavilion now stands and the destruction of our fully
documented botanic garden on Arroyal Road. Every nuance, sleight of hand and lie.
The grave injustices by the ‘good ole boys’ who, once elected, showed their displeasure at our becoming a city and their
dislike of my role with the Incorporation Committee Inc. referendum by destroying our Calusa Indian history and our
botanic garden in our first years as a city. They continue to do so. But soon, we will have the opportunity to depose these
culturally depraved despots once and for all.
We also need to clean house. We have an attorney who, with sleight of hand and instructions supported zoning changes
in our Coastal High Hazard Zone in Pelican Landing for more condominiums, on the Imperial River’s fragile basin on
Arroyal Road for townhouses, violated the Comprehensive Plan allowing a gated community club house on the site where
a residential duplex once stood and who keeps pushing the envelope. She’s a developers’ wet dream.
‘The Gammy Bird’
The question is who to trust. Before filing their papers to get your vote, what did they actually say and do? How did they
behave in office? Does their campaign rhetoric match their actions?
Do they and their board members lie about the paramedics in our Fire District?
When warned by Bob Wagner, our first councilor for District 3, did they purchase homes on the Gulf before the developers
did –effectively privatizing our beach? Can you find a parking place at the beach?
Are they pro-development drones shilling for developers to build in the DRGR our only source of drinking water?
2. Did they support the overpass/flyover study?
Are they pushing 8 lane roads and connecting Collier Boulevard/951 to Bonita Beach Road in Bonita Springs?
Did they push the building of a high school in our wetlands to open the door for massive sprawl of residential development
here and in Estero?
Did they support the homeless shelter, a drop-off for criminals nationwide?
Did they follow the City Charter, seating a councilor-elected Deputy Mayor?
What kind of man accepts an ill gotten title of Deputy Mayor?
Did they represent the majority vote of the city council in their bidding at the Metropolitan Planning Organization [MPO] or
did they verge on treason until stopped?
Did they destroy the Calusa Indian Mound on Snarkage Road and the Calusa Indian dig in Bonita Bay and quickly
construct a community use pavilion and raze the botanic gardens to support developers?
Did they sign and file the origination documents for the reclaimed water contract with BSU? [This is binding and still hurts
our community.]
Did he spend the golf equity membership funds of Bonita Bay for purchase land in eastern Lee County and in Cape
Coral?
Did he tell you the DRGR was not real and only contrived to force development to Lehigh Aces? How much heartache
and hardship can one man cause?
Do he lose his temper and speak irrationally in public, exhibit mental breakdowns in office, get served Cease and Desist
Letters, are they being sued?
In an uncontrollable fit, did he throw his city owned computer against the wall as he sat down to attend a regular city
meeting?
Do they have domestic violence in their lives, drug or alcohol incidents? Are they repeat offenders?
Was he forced to leave the GOP Club for aberrant behavior?
Based on their performance to date, what is their hidden agenda?
‘Truth in Politics’
Are they fit –physically mentally emotionally and financially?
What do they bring to the table?
Are they qualified, informed and do they represent your wants and needs?
END
Faithfully I remain yours, last man standing
Always recusant, a round peg on an unofficial black list
