 development of their culture.

                                                    The AWAKENING HOUSE OF CULTURE is not to offer courses within the community,
                                                    but to seek more opportunities and create conditions outside the boundaries
                                                    imposed by social differences.
The development of future adults, professionals and leaders become more effective because it allows
the young child the expansion of knowledge and different cultural views. It also allows the practice in
the evolution of social integration. Our mission is to draw young people and children in communities
to the various programs and offer them worldly opportunities

Our job is to care for, prepare and give less fortunate citizens the encouragement to
realize their dreams. Trying to create 
the best conditions and support for their
evolution, will ultimately result in success and will become a great story of victory.
THE PARADIGM


The citizen who were born and live in poor communities want to have more access to culture,
higher education and the opportunity to improve as a human being. They often have fears
and insecurities developed thru the non-belief in real opportunities, while seeking better
life conditions. Social classes have targeted most of these people, forcing them to live
without any hope or opportunity for change.
FOUNDER


                                                         Sulanita Teófilo Carvalho was born in 1962 , and passed away in 2007.
                                                         She was better known as Sula by her community, the Favela do Vidigal,
                                                         which is located at the south of Rio de Janeiro city, in Brazil. There, she
                                                         started the Casa de Cultura Despertar / The Awakening House of Culture /
Sulanita (on the left) and her mother Irailde            social project, in 1992.

                                                In 1994, Sulanita Teófilo Carvalho met the international
                                                singer Dionne Warwick and took the chance to invite her to
                                                be the project's godmother. Since then, she has also been
                                                largely responsible for the success of the Awakening House
                                                .

 BALLET DALAL ACHACAR
 10 scholarships for girls from Vidigal . Two of them became professional
 ballerinas and they are teaching classical ballet to youngers.




GÁVEA JIU-JITSU
20 Scholarships for kids from Vidigal. One of them
became teacher and teachs in London to the same school.




FLAMENGO CLUB
50 scholarship for kids from Vidigal in
several sport modality. Two young ladies are
playing to a north american college in the
volleyball team and they’ve become
samples to many other kids in Vidigal.

                               Graduation in Economics from Cândido Mendes University; specialization in Total Quality Management
                                    focused on Enterprise Managing from UFF (Fluminense Federal University) and master degree in
                                                   Entrepreneurial Economics from Cândido Mendes University, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ.
QUALIFICATION
All knowledge in the administrative, financial and new projects areas were acquired in small, medium and
large enterprises, summing over 12 years of professional experience as Director of Financial
Administration.
Co-author of “Introdução ao Empreendedorismo – Despertando a atitude empreendedora”
(Introduction to Entrepreneurialism – The awakening of an entrepreneurial attitude), published by Editora
Elsevier in the beginning of 2010.

DESCRIPTION

     The Young Entrepreneur Project aims to awakening in young people an entrepreneurial attitude,
     helping them develop abilities and a myriad of talents that will broaden their chances of acting in
     society, searching innovation and ethics, expanding their understanding of the risks and the
     possibilities of getting a job.

YOUTH PROFILE

      Studying age, from elementary to high school level, living or not in the community where
      the project is being implemented.

 NEED DEVELOPS INTO OPPORTUNITY

The existence and effectiveness of business enterprises in the
community is strong. From the locksmith to the owner of the
auto mechanic shop, from the manicurist to the owner of the
grocery store, development of a more structured means for
these activities, such as is getting young people dynamically
in touch with this concept. The main focus is to allow the
possibilities of professional growth among young people and
development of the community fulfilling the lack of new
entrepreneur leaders.

The Awakening House of Culture

  • 2. MISSION To awake dreams; Build conditions for those dreams to become reality; Bring up future professionals, leaders and winners that will overcome social inequality. VISION The “Awakening House " aims at the dissemination of the arts and education for all, connecting different nations, different people, encouraging the development of their culture.
  • 3. OUR DIFFERENCE The AWAKENING HOUSE OF CULTURE is not to offer courses within the community, but to seek more opportunities and create conditions outside the boundaries imposed by social differences. The development of future adults, professionals and leaders become more effective because it allows the young child the expansion of knowledge and different cultural views. It also allows the practice in the evolution of social integration. Our mission is to draw young people and children in communities to the various programs and offer them worldly opportunities LOOKING FORWARD TO IMPROVE Our job is to care for, prepare and give less fortunate citizens the encouragement to realize their dreams. Trying to create 
the best conditions and support for their evolution, will ultimately result in success and will become a great story of victory.
  • 4. THE PARADIGM The citizen who were born and live in poor communities want to have more access to culture, higher education and the opportunity to improve as a human being. They often have fears and insecurities developed thru the non-belief in real opportunities, while seeking better life conditions. Social classes have targeted most of these people, forcing them to live without any hope or opportunity for change.
  • 5. FOUNDER Sulanita Teófilo Carvalho was born in 1962 , and passed away in 2007. She was better known as Sula by her community, the Favela do Vidigal, which is located at the south of Rio de Janeiro city, in Brazil. There, she started the Casa de Cultura Despertar / The Awakening House of Culture / Sulanita (on the left) and her mother Irailde social project, in 1992. GODMOTHER In 1994, Sulanita Teófilo Carvalho met the international singer Dionne Warwick and took the chance to invite her to be the project's godmother. Since then, she has also been largely responsible for the success of the Awakening House .

  • 7. PARTNERSHIPS BALLET DALAL ACHACAR 10 scholarships for girls from Vidigal . Two of them became professional ballerinas and they are teaching classical ballet to youngers. GÁVEA JIU-JITSU 20 Scholarships for kids from Vidigal. One of them became teacher and teachs in London to the same school. FLAMENGO CLUB 50 scholarship for kids from Vidigal in several sport modality. Two young ladies are playing to a north american college in the volleyball team and they’ve become samples to many other kids in Vidigal.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR PROJECT CONCEIVED BY Prof. Nelson Caldas ACADEMIC FORMATION/TITLES Graduation in Economics from Cândido Mendes University; specialization in Total Quality Management focused on Enterprise Managing from UFF (Fluminense Federal University) and master degree in Entrepreneurial Economics from Cândido Mendes University, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. QUALIFICATION All knowledge in the administrative, financial and new projects areas were acquired in small, medium and large enterprises, summing over 12 years of professional experience as Director of Financial Administration. Co-author of “Introdução ao Empreendedorismo – Despertando a atitude empreendedora” (Introduction to Entrepreneurialism – The awakening of an entrepreneurial attitude), published by Editora Elsevier in the beginning of 2010. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (ESTÁCIO DE SÁ UNIVERSITY) Professor of Social Sciences and Polytechnic Courses in the following subjects: Applied Economics Structure and Analysis of Projects Microeconomics International Public Relations Author and Presenter of the subject Entrepreneurialism, transmitted live by satellite to all of Brazil (EAD – On line Teaching)

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Young Entrepreneur Project aims to awakening in young people an entrepreneurial attitude, helping them develop abilities and a myriad of talents that will broaden their chances of acting in society, searching innovation and ethics, expanding their understanding of the risks and the possibilities of getting a job. YOUTH PROFILE Studying age, from elementary to high school level, living or not in the community where the project is being implemented. PILOT PROJECT Community of Vidigal
  • 10. A NEW CHALLENGE Break the pragmatic barriers of social exclusion. Motivate and guide the most precious asset of the community: its young people. NEED DEVELOPS INTO OPPORTUNITY The existence and effectiveness of business enterprises in the community is strong. From the locksmith to the owner of the auto mechanic shop, from the manicurist to the owner of the grocery store, development of a more structured means for these activities, such as is getting young people dynamically in touch with this concept. The main focus is to allow the possibilities of professional growth among young people and development of the community fulfilling the lack of new entrepreneur leaders.
