The Arts + Innovation
This document discusses envisioning a regional innovation festival and the role of art in innovation. It asserts that artists provide unique lenses to view the world through openness, divergence and convergence, clarity and fuzziness, and blending the real and surreal. The arts matter for connection, cooperation, sharing, and giving experiences of awe that redefine the self. While some think innovation comes only from STEM fields, the former president of the Rhode Island School of Design posits that the arts, including liberal arts, fine arts, music, and language arts, are critical to innovation and both should be incorporated. Disruption and innovation are interconnected with art.
