• Walt Hommerding, an accounting graduate of the University of Illinois at

Hommerding maintains memberships in industry organizations such as the
Financial Planning Association.
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is the primary professional
organization of certified financial planners around the world. Each year, the
FPA presents two awards to deserving members, the P. Kemp Fain, Jr.,
Award and the Heart of Financial Planning Award. Both awards have been
developed to recognize outstanding achievements by financial
professionals.
The P. Kemp Fain, Jr., Award is arguably the most prestigious honor
available to certified financial planners.

ASSOCIATION
• The award is given annually to one individual whose accomplishments in
the financial planning industry are considered exceptional and meritorious.
Nominees are evaluated in regard to the impact their work has had on
society, academia, government operations, and the financial industry as a
whole.
The Heart of Financial Planning Award, meanwhile, is bestowed on FPA
members who have taken great strides to not only improve the professional
community but to enrich the general public. Past winners, for example, have
made contributions in areas of financial literacy as well as community
education. The FPA announces both the Heart of Financial Planning Award
