1. What is the strongest anchor sire,
in this world of crime, deceit and guile?
Wealth, power or a strong healthy body,
prayer, austere practice or charity?
Keeping hold of which we can feel assured,
that no storm shall throw us overboard.
Dear son, though it may sound paradoxical,
none of these can be a fool-proof anchor.
The real anchor in the tumult of life,
amidst all suffering and sensory delight,
is the wisdom of Impermanence.
Whether you feast or fast; succeed or fail
receive praise or abuse, dance or wail ,
anchored to it you are always in balance.
