The Pacific blue whale is the loudest animal on Earth and can be heard from over 1,000 kilometers away. They primarily eat krill and migrate long distances annually. Although usually solitary, they sometimes travel in small groups. Females give birth to a single calf after over a year of gestation. Blue whales are endangered due to historical commercial whaling but populations are slowly recovering.
