1. Yahooo….getting Free Visa On Arrival
(VOA) within 15 mins Bangkok
One fine morning, I woke up and in the depth of my memory
something has reminded me, I have a flight……..yippee to
Bangkok. Let me, just put few words, how I have arranged all
the documents for VISA those are required before flying to
Bangkok.
VISA: One great information is, Indian passport holder can
get VISA on arrival (VOA), this may continue for few more
months or years. However, to avail this facility we need to
arrange couple of documents before flying.
2. Return Air Ticket:If we are travelling to
any country for tourism purpose, we need to carry our onward
or return air ticket to show to the immigration officer that you
are going out of their country on or before the expiry of the
tourist VISA. I have booked both my onward & return air
ticket while booking via Thai Lion Airways (I will cover in
another blog, how I have booked the ticket via Thai Lion
airlines without any convince fee or additional agent
commission). It may happen that few countries may not
require the return air ticket but we never know, if the
immigration officer asks the question, we have to show it.
3. Passport: Passport should be valid for 6 months and
should have two blank pages at the time of entry to Thailand.
Hotel Booking: Hotel Booking is mandatory to get the
VOA. We can use number of websites to book the hotels.
There are websites which provides hotel booking without
payment, even if without card details. The website I followed
is below.
4. I have highlighted the important points in yellow.

5. Currency: We need to have 10000 THB per
person, or 20000 THB per family. If you are going to
Thailand with 3 of your family members, then you need to
carry 20000 THB, not 40000 THB. For me, the immigration
officer did not ask the currency. However, it is safe to carry
the currency. Also the Forex shops advise to carry THB cash
than multi currency card, as Thailand is mostly based on cash
economy.
I took the 20000 THB currency from Orient Exchange &
Financial services, Pune. I found their service is good and the
margin is less. I got the exchange rate for 2.38 where as others
were offering with 2.40. Difference for 0.02 is significant for
20000 THB. There might be other websites which may
provide good offers.

6. Passport Photo:Need to carry one passport
size photograph of 4X6 cm size. This is very important to
carry if you are a budget traveler and want to complete the
VOA quick. In India, we will get 4 photographs with 4X6 cm
size with approx Rs. 100. However, if we will go for the same
option in Bangkok Airport, we need to pay Rs. 450. As I said,
if your fellow travelers in the same airline have taken the
photographs from India, they can join the que and complete
their VOA soon.
7. Insurance: Normally health insurance is mandatory for
travelling outside of India. This is very important for carrying
a travel insurance for ourselves, not for the immigration
officer. The insurance companies are providing travel
insurance which includes the health insurance as well.
Consider a scenario where we may need to go to a hospital
due to some sickness. There are lots of countries which have
the medical service but at a higher cost. The health insurance
will be beneficial in those countries.
8. Again, as I said above travel insurance includes the health
insurance, so buy a travel insurance which will have the
below facilities.
Note: Immigration may not ask about this document, but
please carry it for our own convenience.

9. Application: We can get the application forms
at the airport before standing in the VOA que. However, for
our own convenience if we will print the application form and
fill it before starting our travel to Thailand, it will be easier to
stand in the VOA que and complete the VOA process soon
than your fellow travelers who do not have the prefilled form
with them. You can down load the form from the below link.

officer asks.

12. Upcoming Blog:
How did I book my air ticket without any convenience fee?
Disclaimer: The VOA completion time may vary depends on
the number of flights landing in the airport at the same time
when you landed. DMK airport is less crowded than BKK
airport.
