Thirty six (36) years working experience of which thirty two (32) years in
Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors. In 1983 he started his career in the
Oil and Gas sector with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as a Process Safety
Engineer/Surveyor and was assigned one (1) year to Petronas Gas
Processing Plant (GPP1) site in Kerteh and 1.5 years at DNV head office in
Hervik, Norway. In 1988 he join Tenaga Ewbank Preece and was seconded
to Brunei Shell as a Senior Process/Facilities Engineer. After returning from
Brunei to Malaysia in 1990 he join Kvaerner Petrominco Engineering (KPE-
now Aker Solution) as Senior Process Engineer/Process Safety Specialist. In
1998 he left KPE and join Technip GeoProduction Malaysia as Technical
Safety Section Head and later as Technical Safety Head of Department
(HOD). One of his key contributions with Technip was to establish a
technical safety department well verse in Loss Prevention and Risk/Safety
studies. Besides his role as HOD and Technical Advisor he was Technical
Safety Lead engineer for numerous Offshore, Onshore and Petrochemical
projects including floaters i.e. SPAR, FPSO, FLNG and TLP. In December
2015 he retired from Technip (presently taking 1 year break from O&G).
He has generated numerous Loss Prevention and Safety/ Risk studies for
both onshore and offshore installations which includes Major Accident Event
(MAE) Assessment, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Fire and
Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA), Escape Evacuation Rescus Analysis
(EERS), Emergency System Survivalibility Analysis (ESSA), Temporary
Refuge Impairment Assessment (TRIA), Dropped Object Risk Analysis
(DORA), Ship Collision Risk Analysis (SCRA), ALARP Assessment,
SAFETY Case, etc. In 1994 he was instrumental in developing the first HSE
Case for Sarawak Shell. Amoung his other activities he facilitates HAZOP,
HAZID and MOPO workshops and on occasion carried out Process Hazard
Assessment (PHA) and Plant Safety Audits (the list of
Audits/HAZOP/HAZID/MOPO workshops carried out are presented
below). He was also involved in Asset Integrity β Process Safety Management
(AI-PSM) which includes Bow-tie Analysis, Safety Critical Element,
Performance Standards (SCE & PS) and Matrix of Permitted Operations
(MOPO).
He is in the Main College of Experts for Technip Worldwide in Process Safety
Design and was involved in SIRIM (Malaysia Standards) reviewing IEC
standards. He is also in the Industrial Advisory Panel (IAP) for University
Petronas, Chemical Faculty. He has presented papers internally for Technip

Senior Manager, Head of Department (HOD), Technical Safety Lead/Principal Engineer
Responsibilities - In Technip, as HOD he oversee a department of 60 engineers, designers and draft
persons before handing over to his deputy HOD. Instrumental in developing
Technical/Process Safety competency for Technip Malaysia. His other role is
Technical Advisor (Main College of Expert for Process Safety) and Principal/Lead
