An electric circuit is composed of components connected together to allow electricity to flow. A simple circuit includes an energy source like a battery with positive and negative terminals containing chemicals that react to produce a current when connected, wires to carry the current, an output device to use the current, and a switch to open or close the circuit. Batteries and generators are sources of potential difference that push electrons continuously around the circuit in one direction from the negative to positive terminal.

2. Electric Circuits
An electric appliance is made up of different
components. These components are connected
to form an electric circuit.
A simple electric circuit is made up four
components. These are the:
• Energy Source
• Wires
• Output device
• Switch

3. Energy Source
The battery is an energy
source. A battery has two
terminals – positive (+ve)
and negative (-ve). There
are chemicals inside the
battery that react to
produce an electric
currenty when the
positive and negative
terminals are connected.

4. Batteries and direct-current generators are sources of potential difference
which urge the electrons around a circuit continually in one direction,
producing a unidirectional current. For this reason such a source is said to
have a fixed polarity, one terminal being called positive and the other
negative. If it is desired to reverse the flow, then the terminals of the
circuit must be reversed with respect to the source.
