Why should
students take a
test?
Why should a
test be
constructed
properly?
Properly constructed tests are important because
they:
• Assess learning: Well-designed tests help teachers
evaluate student mastery of course objectives and how
well students apply what they've learned.
• Provide feedback: Tests can show what was or was not
communicated clearly to students.
• Motivate students: Well-constructed tests can reinforce
learning and motivate students.
• Are valid and reliable: Test developers ensure that their
assessments are valid and reliable, and have a specific
purpose.
