Master Data Management (MDM) has been one of the hot technology areas that are striving to solve the age old data quality and data management problems of the Master Data such as Customer, Product, Chart of Accounts (COA), etc. Of late given the ever increasing capabilities of Hardware, global single instances of packaged applications, mergers and acquisitions, it has become apparent that the data quality problems associated with Master data have been continue to worsen. It is in this context that the MDM solutions try to address the management of master data with robust data quality solutions. The Trading Community Architecture (TCA) framework is an Oracle's answer to solve the problem associated with managing the customer data. Of late the TCA has evolved much more into managing of Location data, Supplier data, Citizen Data, etc. The objective of this session is to provide the overview of Master Data Management (MDM) and Oracle's Trading Community Architecture (TCA) and how it can be used to model the customer data in an enterprise. Maturity frameworks have varying levels of Data Management maturity. Each level corresponds to not only increased data maturity but also increased organizational maturity and bottom-line ROI. There are recommended targets to achieve an effective information management program. The speaker’s maturity framework sequences the information management activities for your consideration. It is based on real client roadmaps. This webinar promises to offer a wealth of ideas for key quick wins to benefit the organization’s information management program.
Attendees can self-assess their current information management capabilities as we go through Data Strategy, organization, architecture, and technology, yielding an overall view of the current level of information management maturity.
This webinar provides a foundation for enhancing current data and analytic capabilities and updating the strategy and plans for the achievement of improved information management maturity, aligned with major initiatives.
The C-level executives are puzzled rightfully, why CDI projects are so complex, time consuming and too expensive when the subject matter is simply the "CUSTOMER" data. Achieving nirvana for a robust CDI solution is far fetched given the maturity level at present of CDI/MDM technologies. It is in this context that this paper makes an attempt to provide a direction with golden rules [Best Practices], distilled with years of experience to smoothen any CDI implementation.
Objectives:
1) Discuss the challenges associated with customer data management
2) Present the Best Practices in managing the customer data
3) Discuss the importance of Data Quality and Data Governance

White Paper - Data Warehouse GovernanceDavid Walker
An organisation that is embarking on a data warehousing project is undertaking a long-term development and maintenance programme of a computer system. This system will be critical to the organisation and cost a significant amount of money, therefore control of the system is vital. Governance defines the model the organisation will use to ensure optimal use and re- use of the data warehouse and enforcement of corporate policies (e.g. business design, technical design and application security) and ultimately derive value for money.
This paper has identified five sources of change to the system and the aspects of the system that these sources of change will influence in order to assist the organisation to develop standards and structures to support the development and maintenance of the solution. These standards and structures must then evolve, as the programme develops to meet its changing needs.
“Documentation is not understanding, process is not discipline, formality is not skill”1
The best governance must only be an aid to the development and not an end in itself. Data Warehouses are successful because of good understanding, discipline and the skill of those involved. On the other hand systems built to a template without understanding, discipline and skill will inevitably deliver a system that fails to meet the users’ needs and sooner rather than later will be left on the shelf, or maintained at a very high cost but with little real use.

Oracle has recently launced a new MDM hub for tackling the Site domain. Many organizations in industries such as Retail, Utilities, Financials, etc., have a huge problem to manage site information in their business context and all of the information (lots of attributes) that they need to manage at these site levels. White Paper - The Business Case For Business IntelligenceDavid Walker
This white paper looks at the business case that should lie behind the decision to build a data warehouse and provide a business intelligence solution.
There are three primary drivers for making the investment in a business intelligence solution
1. Measurement and management of the business process
2. Analysis of why things change in the business in order to react better in the future
3. Providing information for stakeholders
As a consequence of the investment there will also be a number of secondary benefits that will help to justify the investment and these are also discussed. Finally there are a number of ‘anti-drivers’ – reasons for not embarking on a business intelligence programme.

Trending use cases have pointed out the complementary nature of Hadoop and existing data management systems—emphasizing the importance of leveraging SQL, engineering, and operational skills, as well as incorporating novel uses of MapReduce to improve distributed analytic processing. Many vendors have provided interfaces between SQL systems and Hadoop but have not been able to semantically integrate these technologies while Hive, Pig and SQL processing islands proliferate. This session will discuss how Teradata is working with Hortonworks to optimize the use of Hadoop within the Teradata Analytical Ecosystem to ingest, store, and refine new data types, as well as exciting new developments to bridge the gap between Hadoop and SQL to unlock deeper insights from data in Hadoop. The use of Teradata Aster as a tightly integrated SQL-MapReduce® Discovery Platform for Hadoop environments will also be discussed.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
