It is well understood by the enterprise that cloud computing enables companies to host applications, mission critical workloads, and special projects on infrastructure that is built and managed by a third-party provider such as AWS. However, many customers find themselves having a difficult time in assigning value to the benefits of the cloud. In this session we will introduce a framework that can be used to identify the impact of moving to the cloud and the business value around areas such as cost savings, staff productivity, operational resilience, and business agility.
These slides look at why IT transformation projects seem so challenging and whether ignoring the probability of success and failure through TCO analysis can make tools dangerous when poorly applied. We’ll also look at the cost of cloud, and whether it’s really lower than buying and running IT on premise; and examine the TCO of cloud adoption.

Does this scenario sound familiar? You have taken on a project that can solve a core challenge that can provide measurable value to your business. It's an exciting opportunity to learn and grow, but that excitement quickly turns to anxiety as you are confronted with a list of unknowns and questions. Answering these questions, if they ever get solved completely, can be done in a myriad of ways. As new projects and challenges come along, the same questions and anxieties surface. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Analysis paralysis leads to projects getting forced on to legacy architectures, deliver results that are "good enough", or stop projects before they get started. This session will illustrate how adopting an agile mindset to cloud adoption can end this cycle and meet your business needs.
Leadership Session: The Future of Enterprise IT (ENT220-L) - AWS re:Invent 2018Amazon Web Services
The cloud is enabling the transformation of IT in the enterprise at an unprecedented rate. No longer is IT viewed just as a provider of services, but increasingly it is viewed as a strategically important team that plays a central role in the creation of new business value. How are enterprise IT leaders responding, and what are the people, process and technology shifts needed to build agile and innovative organizations?
What IT Transformation Really Means for the EnterpriseTom Laszewski
Digital transformation means something new every decade. This sort of constant change is stressful for any organization, but especially for the large enterprise. Because while nearly every enterprise began as a small, scrappy team, success means growth, and growth means accumulation—more technology, more processes, more people, and more red tape. In this session, we’ll give an executive-level view of how the cloud removes the stressful burden of on-premise applications, legacy technology, and outdated processes from the enterprise. We’ll examine what digital transformation really means, and offer prescriptive guidance around decluttering the enterprise, security, culture, and more. AWS enables every enterprise to invest in strategic innovation and modernization. With the AWS cloud, enterprises become more agile, more efficient, and are better equipped to keep pace with constant change. As a partner, AWS enables every enterprise to live its own version of the Amazon Story—one of growth without burdensome accumulation, success without slowness, and constant innovation.

Enterprise DevOps: Patterns of Efficiency (ENT311-R1) - AWS re:Invent 2018Amazon Web Services
DevOps is a powerful movement that can help enterprises speed up their rate of innovation. But many large organizations struggle to implement DevOps at scale due to conflicts (real and perceived) with existing IT processes. Enterprise DevOps is the convergence of the speed and agility from modern development processes with the governance, security, and compliance control from traditional IT operations processes. In this session, learn how to implement enterprise DevOps in your organization through building a culture of inclusion, common sense, and continuous improvement. Also learn how to incorporate the knowledge from subject matter experts across your business into your automated DevOps guardrails to create the positive feedback loop we call "patterns of efficiency." This session contains actionable advice for leaders from IT as well as finance, compliance, and security departments.
Reduce Costs and Build a Strong Operational Foundation with the AWS Migration...Amazon Web Services
Speaker: Romulo Gapuz, Solutions Architect, AWS
Up to 80% of enterprise IT budgets are spent on maintaining existing workloads and keeping the lights on versus focusing on new products and services to better serve customers. Migrating existing workloads to the cloud provide a lever to do that, providing efficiencies and benefits on your existing workloads.
What if you could focus your attention and resources on differentiating your company in the marketplace? What if you could innovate at startup-like speed? And finally, what if you could dramatically reduce the risks inherent in your present infrastructure?

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
