Teen pregnancy is caused by inconsistent use of birth control, wanting to have a baby or keep a mate, and unwanted sexual relations. Having a baby as a teen means taking on major responsibilities like washing clothes, feeding the baby, and finding childcare in order to go out. It also means everything in a teen's life will change. Teen mothers are less likely to complete high school or obtain a college degree and more likely to live in poverty and need welfare. Houston has a high rate of teen pregnancy, with over 100 girls under age 15 giving birth in 2006.
