Students in grades 3-5 take standardized state assessments in reading, math, and science. Librarians help prepare students for these tests by promoting early reading and conducting research lessons using both texts and computers. They present multimedia lessons and encourage students to create multimedia products. Librarians use tools like document cameras, data projectors, laptops, digital cameras, and video cameras to deliver technology-enriched lessons both individually and in small groups within 50-minute class periods, often collaborating with classroom teachers and other educators. They introduce students to web 2.0 applications like wikis, blogs, podcasts, and Prezi for educational purposes.
