Technology: My Daily Addiction
When the word technology is heard, most people think of IPhones and MacBooks. However,
technology is anything that is able to complete a task faster and easier. Due to recent technology,
people everywhere are always glued to their smartphones tweeting or updating statuses. Technology
plays a major role in today’s society in other ways too. It is almost impossible in this modern age for one
to get by without technology. Personally, I am constantly checking what my friends are up to on Twitter,
Facebook, or some other social media site. Researching in order to complete my school assignments
also requires technology that I use frequently. Using the dishwasher to wash dishes and driving the car
to get to different places are other examples of how I use technology. I use technology in my daily life
to stay connected with friends, to do schoolwork, and to accomplish simple, everyday tasks.
Keeping up with friends is an example of how I use technology daily. I check my Facebook and
Twitter accounts often to see what my friends are up to. Statuses inform me about my friends’ lives,
and the information I post lets others stay updated on my life. Even though I may not be close friends
with all the people on these sites; I am still able to see what they are doing. Another social media I use
is Instgram, where users only upload pictures; the pictures people post permit me to stay connected.
Although not as regularly, I use Skype and Oovoo as well. Skype and Oovoo allow me to video chat with
others. This is good for keeping up with long distance friendships. I keep up with my friends by using
my cell phone too. However, I only use my cell phone to contact my closer friends by texting or calling
them. I use technology in my daily life in order to stay connected with friends.

Another way in which I use technology daily is doing schoolwork. I am not sure how I would do
some of my school work if it was not for technology. Sometimes, I use the Internet to look up or
research a topic for a school project; other times, I only need a computer to type my homework or
essay. Occasionally, I may need to submit assignments online or email a professor for assistance. A
flash drive is necessary if I need to save something and take it to work on later, and calculators are
helpful when doing math problems. I also use a printer to print various items such as projects,
worksheets, and other things I may need for a class. In order to be successful and complete my
schoolwork, I must use technology.
Lastly, I use technology in my daily life to perform everyday tasks. Clean clothes are essential;
therefore, I use the washing machine every day to wash loads of clothes. While I do not put certain
items of clothing in the dryer to be dried, I still use the dryer daily for the rest of my clothes and other
things such as linens. Washing dishes is also an example of how I use technology for ordinary tasks.
Instead of washing all of the dishes by hand, I just put them in the dishwasher. After all, clean dishes are
very important too. Instead of walking or riding a bike from place to place, I drive my car. If I need to
get somewhere, then I use my car as transportation; this is another demonstration of my daily use of
technology. Accomplishing everyday tasks is an example of how I use technology in my daily life.
Staying connected with friends, doing schoolwork, and completing everyday tasks are ways in
which I use technology daily. I get on social media sites in order to stay updated on my friends’ lives,
and I also use my cell phone as a more personal means to contact people. I use technology daily to do
schoolwork as well; for example, I may need to do research or type a paper. Washing clothes and
driving around town are everyday tasks that require technology.In today’s modern society, technology is
used everywhere and all the time. I would be lost in this world if I did not use technology daily. The
thought of how many people all over are also addicted to technology daily is overwhelming.
