One mil at 100 meters equals 10 centimeters or 3.6 inches. Mil-based reticles can be used to determine the range of a target by dividing the target's height in mils by the number of mils it covers on the reticle and multiplying by 100 meters. To reset the turrets on a scope to zero after sighting it in, loosen the torx screw on the top of the windage or elevation knob and retighten it once the knob is set to the zero mark.
