WHAT IS TEA??
• Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or
boiling water over cured or fresh leaves of Camellia sinensis, an
evergreen shrub native to China and East Asia. After water, it is the
most widely consumed drink in the world. There are many different
types of tea; some, like Chinese greens and Darjeeling, have a
cooling, slightly bitter, and astringent flavour, while others have vastly
different profiles that include sweet, nutty, floral, or grassy notes. Tea
has a stimulating effect in humans primarily due to its caffeine
content.
ORIGINS OF TEA
• The two legends who discovered tea were 1) a chinese empror who
always boil water before drinking it. One day when he was boiling
water some twigs leavea burning under the pot fell into it and its tate
was delicious and those leaves were later came to be known as tea
leaves. 2) we have an indian legend too and he is a buddist ascetic
name Bodhidharma cut off his eye lid because he felt slept at the
time of meditation and threw them away ten tea plants grew from his
eye lid . In this way tea was discovered.
IMPORTANCE OF TEA IN INDIA
• In other contries, people drink tea as a medicine. But in India, a
morning is incomplete without the Tea. The importance of tea
drinking in India cannot be confined to words, Indians have to have
their cup of hot steaming tea first thing in the morning in order to
stimulate their senses and refresh themselves. In fact some even
argue that tea as a beverage enjoys much more preference as
compared to coffee in India.
