Blood is composed of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Plasma is 90-92% water and contains organic compounds like proteins, amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, glucose, and hormones to transport nutrients and regulate processes in the body. It also holds inorganic salts and ions to maintain osmotic balance and support clotting. Red blood cells carry oxygen, white blood cells fight infection, and platelets assist in clotting.
