RESEARCH
Phil Wynne
Introduction
This presentation show’s you how to use research
techniques productively and correctly.
The objective of this presentation is to show what the
user can do for the game when using research
techniques.
Research in general
 Research is simply investigating further into something
to either find things about the game.
 Research is key to the industry due to being able to find
what the audience want in a game. This can be very
profitable.
Classic game research
 The picture below is of me playing Zelda “A Link to the Past”.
 From the experience I learnt how to take information from playing a game and
use that research to explain what and how the game plays and feels.
 I can apply this knowledge to my game as I can find out what things other
people want in a game.
Modern game research
For my modern game research I chose to research about
Minecraft – Feed The Beast.
I learnt in this game, it takes a long time before you can
create massive parts to it, and remembering all the
recipes takes some time.
This could be applied to my game as they used the time
well which makes you want to continue.
conclusion
• Overall, for the Zelda research I thought that the game
rated a overall 8/10. This is because the game had many
different unique quality's, and for the era it was very well
put together.
• For my modern Game research I think that this rates
overall an 9/10. This is because the game used
something that other games can’t use well. This is not a
10/10 because I thought there were still a lot of bugs due
to it being a unfinished game.
