The document discusses the traditions of Day of the Dead and Halloween. Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition celebrated on November 1st and 2nd to honor deceased relatives. Families place offerings on gravesites and altars in homes to welcome the souls of the dead. Halloween originated over 3,000 years ago from Celtic harvest festivals and traditions where souls of the dead were believed to walk among the living. It is now celebrated in many countries with costumes and trick-or-treating on October 31st.

4. DAY Of THE DEATH
It is a Mexican tradition maintained on November 1 and 2 in
which the memory of the dead is honored. It originated as a
syncretism between Catholic celebrations as well as the various
customs of the indigenous people of Mexico. It is of pre-Hispanic
origin, in which the people celebrate and honor their deceased
relatives by placing altars or offerings on their graves or in
houses.
It is celebrated mainly in Mexico and in Latin American countries
such as Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala and to a lesser degree in
Central American countries and in the Andean region in South
America, from northwestern Argentina to the United States, in
areas where it exists. a large indigenous population. In 2008,
UNESCO declared the festival as Intangible Cultural Heritage of
Humanity in Mexico.
