The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, India on the southern bank of the Yamuna River, approximately 204km from Delhi. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan over a period of 20 years, starting in 1632, as a mausoleum for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal complex covers an area of 580 meters and the white marble mausoleum stands 73 meters tall. It is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
