Steve Ellis, President & CEO of Automated Solutions recently heard of a new process from Velocite in Taiwan regarding an automated way of winding carbon fiber. The technology replaces the older version of laying down carbon patches and automates the process will many benefits. The new technology will be showcased at this years upcoming 2015 Taipei Cycle show

2. VELOCITE TECH
• Velocite Tech, a Taiwanese
manufacturer has successfully and
automatically produced carbon bicycle
rims
• The product and technology will be
rolled out at the upcoming Taipei
Cycle show
• These are the first carbon wheels to
be manufactured with an automated
and continuous filament winding
process as opposed to the older
version of hand layering of carbon
fiber patches
• The new technology will have
numerous positives for the company
and will hopefully filter into other
industries and companies

hand layering
• With continuous tow machine winding with fibers and
under constant tension, significant performance
increases were seen and the cost benefits were
brought to light
• No longer will workers be stressed with creating the
products but also may find themselves less needed
and their training abridged
