There is an overwhelming list of expectations – and challenges – in this new, emerging and evolving role. In this presentation, given at the 2016 CDO Summit, Joe Caserta focuses on:
- Defining the CDO title
- Outlining the skills that enhance chances for success
- Listing all the many things the company thinks you are responsible for
- Providing an overview of the core technologies you need to be familiar with and will serve to ultimately support your success
- Presenting a concise list of the most pressing challenges
- Sharing insights and arguments for how best to meet the challenges and succeed in your new role
In this RISE 2011 workshop, I discuss how people are beginning to work in looser, more decentralized, networked organizations. I then pose a series of questions about these loose organizations. How do they work? What are their strengths and weaknesses? Participants will help answer these questions, partly by swapping stories. Afterwards, I'll summarize the discussion at spinuzzi.blogspot.com.
My current CV: I love technology, connecting all the dots (❓❗️), and being influential in key decisions. I enjoy working on projects that make use of my extensive research, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, cultural competency, competitive analysis, innovation & sourcing skills. I believe in the power of collaboration, inclusion & transparency in today's diverse global workforce. I am also a big fan of the potential with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Analytics, Cloud, The Internet of Things (IOT), and Big Data.
I am also passionate (and very concerned) about our planet's health and the environment at large. As a Citizen Scientist, I am actively involved in volunteering in various environmental organizations-it's exciting to see our research being published in scientific journals which will in turn help shape policies! And am also equally passionate about Social and Racial Justice causes and movements. So many challenges to tackle, so little time. But: I always say "When there's a will, there's a way"!邏
I like to think of myself as an Open Sourcer (h/t @Amybeth Quinn).
On that note, in 2007 l was the winner of the 2nd #Sourcecon challenge, which was very hard! Went to the GrandMaster Challenge, but the super smart Mike Notaro won the crown. Since then, I consider SourceCon peeps like family. And more currently, the #SOSU folks are also amazing-the virtual #SOSUV conference was awesome!
☛ Lastly, I am located in Bellingham, WA & work virtually, globally.

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
