Artifact Tag Example
  Emerging (64%)
Name of Artifact: Sony Walkman Sport

Details: From the late 1980’s; Purchased in USA

Importance: I included a walkman because humans like
listening to music. Music is cool. Justin Bieber is my favorite
artist and I have every one of his songs on my ipod. I take my
ipod with me everywhere. Most of my friends do too.
Everyone has an ipod today. So that is why I included a
  walkman.

 Developing (76%)
Name of Artifact: Sony Walkman Sport

Details: From the late 1980’s; Purchased in USA

  Importance:

I chose this walkman because I thought it would be a good
artifact for the present because it showed our society listened to
  music.

It reflects that people in our society liked to take music with
them and listen to their favorite music on headphones.

I think that it shows that our species likes music now, and we
keep getting new ways to listen to it. Now we have an Ipod that
is soooo small. In the past, our ancestors used drums as music.
As technology gets better, the way we play music changes.

  Proficient (88%)
Name of Artifact: Sony Walkman Sport

Details: From the late 1980’s; Purchased in USA

Importance: I included a walkman because it changed the way
people listen to music. Music has always been important to
people, but the walkman allows us to listen to music all by
ourselves, and to carry it with us. Believe it or not, this is a huge
change! Today you see people walking around with ipods all the
time. Humans today use their personal music players to
disconnect from the world around them. The popularity of the
personal music player shows that humans like to be alone.
Artifact Tag Example
 Exemplary (100%)
Name of Artifact: Sony Walkman Sport

Details: From the late 1980’s; Purchased in USA

Importance: Prior to the introduction of the personal music
player, listening to music was an experience to be shared with
others in confined spaces—like our homes, dance clubs, and
coffee houses. The walkman changed this by allowing us to
listen to music in isolation (through headphones) and to carry
that music with us wherever we went. People have always loved
music, but in the present day, many people use their personal
music players to disconnect from others, rather than connect to
them. This is one example of how the development of
technology has caused our species to be a more isolated, rather
  than connected group of people.
