1. TABLETS TO TREAT CANCER
Drugs are used not only for treating cancer, but also for relieving symptoms of
the cancer (e.g. pain), and side
side-effects, such as nausea, commonly seen with the
various types of treatment.

What these tablets can do?
Cancer drugs can:

2.  Imatinib mesylate is approved to treat:
 Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in adults and children that is Philadelphia
chromosome positive. In adults, it is used for disease that has recurred (come
back) or is refractory (does not respond to treatment). In children, it is used as
the first treatment after the disease is diagnosed.
 chronic eosinophilic leukemia or hypereosinophilic syndrome.
 chronic myelogenous leukemia that is philadelphia chromosome positive.
 dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
 gastrointestinal stromal tumor (gist).
 myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms.
 systemic mastocytosis.
Imatinib mesylate is also being studied in the treatment of other conditions and
types of cancer.
Generic Vepesid:
Etoposide is approved to be used with other drugs to treat:
 Small cell lung cancer.
 Testicular cancer. It is used in patients who have already been treated
with surgery, radiation therapy, or other chemotherapy and have not gotten
better.

Synthroid is used for treating low thyroid hormone levels and certain types of
goiters.

 Acute lymphoblastic leukemia that has spread to the central nervous system, or
to prevent it from spreading there.
 Breast cancer.
 Gestational trophoblastic disease.
 Head and neck cancer (certain types).
 Lung cancer.
 Mycosis fungoides (a type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma) that is advanced.
 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma that is advanced.
 Osteosarcoma that has not spread to other parts of the body. It is used
following surgery to remove the primary tumor.
Methotrexate is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.

4. Active Ingredient: conjugated estrogens
Premarin is a mixture of estrogen hormones used to treat symptoms of
menopause such as hot flashes, and vaginal dryness, burning, and irritation.
Generic nolvadex:
It is approved to treat:
 Breast cancer in women and men.
Tamoxifen citrate is also approved to prevent:
 Breast cancer in women who are at high risk for the disease.
Tamoxifen citrate is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
Generic evista:
It is approved to prevent:
 Breast cancer. It is used to decrease the chance of invasive breast
cancer in postmenopausalwomen who have a high risk for developing the
disease or who have osteoporosis.
Raloxifene hydrochloride is also approved to prevent and treat:
 Osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Raloxifene hydrochloride is also being studied in the treatment of other types
of cancer.

5. Generic eulexin:
ctive Ingredient: Flutamide
Eulexin is used in the treatment of prostate cancer.
Generic droxia:
This medication is used in people with sickle cell anemia to reduce the number of
painful crises caused by the disease and to reduce the need for blood
transfusions.
Generic cytoxan:
Active Ingredient: Cyclophosphamide
Cytoxan is used to treat cancer of the ovaries, breast, blood and lymph system,
nerves (found primarily in children), retinoblastoma (a cancer of the eye found
primarily in children), multiple myeloma (cancer in the bone marrow), and
mycosis fungoides (tumors on the skin).

It is approved to treat:

6.  Prostate cancer that has metastasized (spread to other parts of the body). It is
used with a type ofdrug called a luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone
agonist.
Bicalutamide is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
